If you're interested in (a) moving to Ottawa and (b) working for a community-owned ISP, you might want to keep an eye on this page belonging to my ISP:

If you see anything that looks like a good fit for you, please let them know!

To those of you reading other Canadian newspapers: I see Conservatives rented the front two pages of the Citizen this morning. Did they do the same with any of the other Postmedia-owned newspapers across the country again?

The last time I remember this happening was in 2015.

I am likely to avoid answering your ad if I don't know whose ad I'm going to be responding to. You could be posting an opportunity for any of my "dream job" scenarios, but I won't take that chance.

Back to the search.

I'm not putting up with continued resistance to my usage of such things.

Check out this item on the issues facing the one Jason Kenney's setting up in Alberta to protect tarsands money from reality.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/kenney-energy-war-room-1.5393010

The thing that Mr. Kenney's trying to get us to ignore is that we can't afford to burn anyone's oil to get the energy we need anymore. Not Putinist Russia's, not the Bakken deposits in the northern prairies of the USA, not the Saudis', nor our own in Alberta or off the Newfoundland Island coast...not anyone's oil from anywhere. But you being my audience-by-choice, you knew this yourselves already. Mr. Kenney probably doesn't like that fact either.

I saw it.

Two things coming to mind. One is a paraphrase of something Clint said to Natasha in Endgame: Don't give me hope unless you mean it. The other is that I'm bracing for this movie to be an eulogy and no more than that.

It burns me that those of us who care about such things had to wait until after Endgame to get this movie at all. And there are lots of more important things to be angry about, yes. I am angry about many of those other things, too, as you've read from earlier installments of this blog. But this is staying on my personal list of such things, anyway.

I just started listening to the podcast of today's Sunday Edition. I should never hear a CBC podcast start with an ad for an Amazon Prime series.

Ever.

This is a deeply trivial yet deeply important thing to me.

Or should that be "merde-ling"?

Read this before it goes behind a paywall or before you vote, whichever is first:

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-manning-centre-wont-disclose-source-of-donations-to-third-parties-for/

This is "dirty tricks" ad-spending, as far as I'm concerned.

I saw the full-page ads where they tried to declare themselves as being the energy industry incarnate. Never mind the renewables, only oil is allowed to matter as being "vital to the Canadian economy" and all that stuff and nonsense?

(I'm sure that "vital..." phrase is an actual quote from somewhere in the oil sector!)

That ad annoys me. Especially in the present context. As does the behind-the-scenes meddling.

I'm not sure that I have much more to say than that on this topic right now.

Found out that this brand of software existed through an Indeed "help wanted" advertisement.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splunk

Every word in every language is going to become someone's brand sooner or later, right?

I remember seeing this.

Mr. Jackson's speech in this teaser derived from the preamble of so many issues of the various Avengers comics series published by Marvel across the decades...

The Washington Post took out a TV ad tonight.

I teared up. And saluted.

Not even remotely joking about this.

Yes, I saw it.

Need sleep, so I'm not commenting right now. Tomorrow, though...

The casino is across the Kitchissippi (AKA "Ottawa River") in Secteur Hull, Gatineau, QC.

The bus shelter is on Laurier Avenue West in Sandy Hill, Ottawa, ON.

The ad was set up nine years before this posting went up on Dreamwidth. Long since gone.

But the image stuck with me.
