My brain is putting these things together:
  • A reunion of the Inhumans cast in Toronto...because Serinda Swan(Medusa) and Anson Mount(Black Bolt) are already working on other stuff there and knocking the critics dead with joy. Get those actors a script they can all have fun with.
  • She-Hulk shows up because the Inhumans have moved from Hawai'i to Toronto because politics. And she's a lawyer, drowning in a crash course on international law, refugee/immigration law, etc..
  • Ms. Marvel if they hold onto her Inhuman connection from the comics, and my logic doesn't have an explanation why her family would let her go to/bring her from Jersey City to Toronto yet.
  • Shang-Chi, because of his father's schemes having a Toronto angle.
  • I want to try to leverage Alpha Flight as I first knew it from the comics further into MCU being without being X-Men-dependent.
  • Get some of the Agents of SHIELD cast into the game. At least Daisy Johnson and alt-timeline Daniel Sousa.
None of this makes any sense to any of you, right? Outside of a fanfic context, anyway. I'm spitballing here out loud in public, precisely where I shouldn't. Also, getting Canadian actors - Swan, Vellani, Maslany, Liu - to be able to work on a Marvel project in Canada.

The ending of last night's episode really twisted a knife in my heart.

Dayton Ward announced on several websites that he's working with Dayton Ward and James Swallow on a project for the Star Trek "Novelverse" as we've known it these past two decades. Working title is Coda.

Owing to several divergences from content established in the "Novelverse" in what we've been seeing on Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks thus far, and expecting more divergences to come, a lot of longtime readers are expecting this project to wrap up the continuity of the "Novelverse" with some finality.

Dayton's noted that since beginning work on the Coda project, there's been a piece of "go to" music he's had on his playlist: "The Garden" by Rush, from their Clockwork Angels album.

We've got maybe over half a year before this particular trilogy of books starts arriving at retailers, but since Rush was a Canadian band, this is a good excuse for another Musical Interlude in my own blogging here. From their Clockwork Angels tour in 2012, then...

Yeah, so that last five minutes broke me.

There are a few of these in the basement. All were originally manufactured for comic book collections, but when boxes I considered less awkward to haul became available to buy, I switched to those and set aside the long boxes for more (and less) conventionally-sized books.

At least two or three are filled with books I'd intended for yard sale time, whenever I'd finally be able to choose a time for it. One has Peanuts-related books of varying vintages and conditions. Another has nothing but Star Trek novels from across the branch series and the decades. I don't know how I'm going to be able to hold onto those. If at all.

I could have weeks to months, depending on who I believe right now.

I'll post pix later, probably on the weekend.

At least, that seems to be the line DC's promoting today.

Got a fun Bat-related story, anyone?

And this morning, The Current is replaying another Vinyl Cafe story. Yes, dammit, I'm tearing up just hearing Stuart McLean's voice again. No apologies.

I'm about five chapters into this one. Bought it back in January of this year, and then got distracted with a couple of metric tonnes of other stuff. One more of my mistakes.

Well, it's getting fixed now, right?

Anyway, two chapters in, and already Gail's upended stuff that Joanne Kilbourn thought she knew and understood about her own life and family. No, not going to explain it. I spoiled it for myself by finally starting to read Gail's "how-I-dunnit" book about mystery novels, Sleuth. That book is one more reason why University of Regina Press ought to be getting much more attention from the general book-reading public on the non-fiction side.

Anyway, I'll try to remember to let you know when I've finished. Gail migrated in the opposite direction of mine: to Saskatchewan from Ontario. And she found ways of proving my birth province an interesting place in its own right, as Robert B. Parker did with Spenser's Boston.

People who live in or declare allegiance to what I call Canada are a mixture of people who come from all sorts of different places, different ways of thinking. From people who insist they're not Canadian because their allegiance is to a nation that pre-dates European contact to people who see themselves as Canadian no matter where else on Earth they may live and work...this was a collection of stories that filled me with joy, sadness, fear, hope...and wonder above all else.

Someone whose work I'd read regularly back in the late 1980's and early 1990's was Peter B. Gillis. Some of you may remember Strikeforce: Morituri. That was one of his when it started out, published through Marvel once upon a time.

He's still alive, it seems, and a while back, I stumbled across one of his short stories on his weblog.

It seemed to fit the Season, in a Twilight Zone way, and I still like it now.

So...for your reading pleasure now:
