- Back to the normal job search practices this morning.

- Successfully postponed the CPAP machine swap-and-payment date to next Tuesday in anticipation of finances falling together properly for that occasion.

- Continuing to watch lectures from Typewknd participants on YouTube. I am nerding out about type design this weekend.

- Tentatively scheduled to attend the monument installation for my late friend from Pen and Paper Workshop, Naomi Wilanski this Sunday morning upcoming.

- Missed today's City Planning Committee meeting being broadcast via YouTube.

- Other stuff to be added.

She's got some thoughts fit for sharing widely here:

- Yard work in flower beds. (Lots of shoveling involved!)
- Shopping.
- Kept up with news near and far.
- Checked in with assorted friends.
- Quiet mourning for two friends gone.
- Avoided dehydration.

That's enough for a day, right?

  • Applied for five jobs.
  • Attempted to conduct a video interview, and had to settle for a phone call.
  • Ushered a bumblebee out of the basement and out the front door of the house. And both I and the bee survived that.
Got caught up on news from reliable publishers.

(How are the bee and the two wasps previous getting into the basement?)

In case anyone was wondering? I got the bedding laundry done yesterday. Adult accomplishment, achieved.

Dealt with job search stuff today. At least five of the companies I'm registered with haven't forgotten me, thankfully. We'll see what comes of that.

Clearing out the Dreamwidth Inbox of clutter.

Uploaded some pix to my Flickr account because photography hobby and personal amusement and a fitness goal achieved.

One short, sharp screaming jag this afternoon because of the Diamond/comic book/finances in general thing.

I got some actual sketchbook practice in today.

For me at least. The management here put out the Year's End Sale notice at [site community profile] dw_news today, and it prompted me to check the state of my account. Renewal time was fast approaching, as it turned out. Nice timing, that.

Saw the dentist, got my checkup and cleaning...and saw such things as made me immediately wish for DentiCare as proposed by the NDP to be in force right bloody now. It's not like I'm going to lose All The Teeth any time soon, mind you, and I'll probably be able to manage the bill once the work's done. Kicking myself again for my lack of flossing technique, my food appetites, and the slow advance of the years.

Also, got more work done on the photo-tagging in iPhoto after supper tonight. Sixteen years of digital photography of things of interest to me...and the ways the city's changed as I've lived in it. It hits like Popeye's "twisker sock" must feel when it hits the likes of Bluto/Brutus.

Second day of work. Got my assigned workload done, which was good.

Got headache meds and antacid for the office desk. Just in case.

Had a better lunch today than I did yesterday.

Rode the train between Blair Station and downtown today. Both going to work, and going home again.

Got my lotto numbers replayed today. I doubt that I'll win the jackpot on this one, but I was thinking about the Spider-Man line about power and responsibility earlier today after making the purchase. It wouldn't be as much economic power as the Desmarais family, Kevin O'Leary or Galen Weston...but it would be substantially more than I've had up to now. And there would be responsibility to go with it.

Anyway, it's unlikely to pay off that big...

Managed to update my candidate profile at two prospective employers' website with tomorrow's new job in mind.

Travelled on public transit.

Completed shopping errands, including two newspapers purchased.

Interacted with other humans successfully on multiple occasions.

Managed progress with personal hygiene.

Rain. In January. Again.

So I still got stuff done today.

Driveway shovelled.
New external hard drive.
New (used) cleverphone.
Groceries bought.
Library business squared away.

Oh, and I finally got the Hadfield autobiography today. Since I got it at the used bookstore attached to my local public library, that might count as a "cheat"...?

Chores accomplished today:

  • shopping

  • job-hunting, with applications filed

  • font design self-schooling in Typetool 3

  • research on typography, news, graphic design, pop culture

So far, so good.

Despite the phrasing of the opening headline of this particular CBC news article, I notice this particular detail about Radarsat-1: it lasted twelve years longer than planned or expected.

The people who built this satellite did Very Good Work.

Thank you all.

Happy Gagarin Day!
