Amplifying this tonight, just in case it can get to someone who really needs to see it:

I am going to do the right things as best I can whenever I can, in terms of ecological sustainability. I will fail at this from time to time, being human. I will still do the work to whatever degree I can.

I did wash out on the French test this morning.

Frankly, it was and still is the responsible thing for this particular employer to do, and - more importantly - the kind thing to do. Hospitals in the National Capital Region on either side of the Québec-Ontario border absolutely need fluently bilingual people filling their public-facing job categories.

Eventually, you'd ideally want to have everyone on such a payroll to have at least one additional language on their resumé, too, since we are both a national capital region - with the international traffic you'd expect because of embassies, consulates, legations, etc., as well as respecting our treaty duties to our Indigenous relations. Around Ottawa, that would imply a need for Anishnaabemowin, the Haudenosonee languages, some people with Inuktut fluency as well because of the back-and-forth medical traffic between Ottawa and Iqaluit.

I have no regrets about this, except that I have neglected keeping up my French-language skills since moving here from Saskatchewan. That's my mistake to own.

Back to watching videos on Clip Studio Paint, font design via Typewknd, and other chores tonight...

Second day of work. Got my assigned workload done, which was good.

Got headache meds and antacid for the office desk. Just in case.

Had a better lunch today than I did yesterday.

Rode the train between Blair Station and downtown today. Both going to work, and going home again.

Got my lotto numbers replayed today. I doubt that I'll win the jackpot on this one, but I was thinking about the Spider-Man line about power and responsibility earlier today after making the purchase. It wouldn't be as much economic power as the Desmarais family, Kevin O'Leary or Galen Weston...but it would be substantially more than I've had up to now. And there would be responsibility to go with it.

Anyway, it's unlikely to pay off that big...

I'm trying to find a good time to start screaming about ecological responsibility.

Yes, I saw the news coverage about the Canadian federal climate derangement report leaking via CBC News' website.

Do we really want an Internet of Things?

Maybe I've been listening to too many episodes of Spark...

After I announced via Facebook my intent to visit Parliament Hill today to join the Layton memorial/anniversary vigil, one of my friendlisters there gave praise: "You're a good citizen."

In honesty?

I'm not even sure that I qualify as a good human being yet, never mind being a good citizen. I'm troubled by any number of personal flaws remembered, whether remembered accurately or not. Some of you have been annoyed personally by those flaws, sometimes more than once. Some people have left my friendlists here and elsewhere as a result.

I'll admit to being a work in progress. There are good days and bad days. Sometimes, there are lukewarm days. Today's one of the lukewarm days. Hoping to do better. To be better.

In the meantime, thanks for your patience, your goodwill and your trust to the degree you've deemed right and proper so far.

I can't help but feel that it's a Very Bad Idea to defy the election law on this particular point.

Tod Maffin holds the same thinking, but he went one better: he explains why it could backfire on the country.

It makes sense to me.

Go read it.

I just got the word: the OC Transpo bus drivers are now On Strike.

Dammit. My sense of environmental responsibility turned into a knife in my own economic guts for the second time in my life since moving to Ottawa.

Hoping it ends soon. Preferably within days...if not hours.

Update:

I was given incorrect info. My apologies for the screw-up.

Mood update: Still mildly annoyed...and somewhat worried that the strike may yet happen.
