Birthday Fundraiser
Jan. 7th, 2024 10:00 pmI've decided, for my birthday, to launch a fundraiser for the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County via Facebook.
How slow a pace of donations should I expect?

Health: Dental Improvements
Dec. 11th, 2023 07:37 amSo...the federal dental care programme continues to be brought into effect.
It's decades late. It's still needed. And I'm glad it's finally on its way.
The out-of-pocket costs have been dogging me ever since I aged out of my parents' work-derived medical coverage, I've never been able to hold a job long enough to get similar benefits of my own, and by this time next year, that financial-medical pain is going to finally end.
Good.

Off to City Hall...
Oct. 23rd, 2023 07:53 am...to advocate for extra municipal funding for mental health support programmes this morning. I've printed out three drafts of my "deputation" - city hall slang for a speech expected to last no more than five minutes - and am not sure that I'm properly set up for this.
I am, of course, terrified of being reinfected by COVID-19 by way of public transit. Not that I have any realistic alternatives to that to resort to right now for various reasons and excuses.
I haven't visited the downtown core of Ottawa-Gatineau in over a year. There have surely been additional changes to the neighbourhood that I don't know to expect.

Day of Rest
Sep. 17th, 2023 09:31 pmOf course, I haven't really rested today. The following things got done today:
- vacuumed two floors of the house
- picked out stars to host a half-dozen or so planets on that Edge of Midnight map project
- did two walking/shopping trips mainly for exercise
- practiced a bit more for Clip Studio Paint via the Cintiq tablet/monitor
- uploaded a scan of a sketch I drew for my Amateur Press Alliance back in 2006 to various social media outlets for the sake of self-promotion and because of Batman Day
- cleaned up some of my kitchen mess
- applied for another job
- cleaned my CPAP gear, as I need to do each weekend
- wrote a note of comment to the Ottawa Board of Health about protection measures against SARS-CoV-2 and other contagions of note and worry
I'd like to get a new "office/studio" chair, but barring some surprise via trashnothing.com, that's probably not going to happen soon. The one I use currently leans a bit to my right because of years of my leaning to that side when I sit down in it. Also, it deflates an inch after a certain amount of time sitting down.

Checking In - 17 July 2023
Jul. 17th, 2023 09:24 pmI set up an appointment for Thursday with my dentist to get the left side of my jaw checked to see if I've got a busted tooth, a dislocated jaw from last week's cleaning, or if something else is going on.
I am also still trying to be a person who's attentive to the wider worlds in which my friends and acquaintances live. Not sure that I'm doing well at that anymore than with the job search.
