Checking In - 17 July 2023

I set up an appointment for Thursday with my dentist to get the left side of my jaw checked to see if I've got a busted tooth, a dislocated jaw from last week's cleaning, or if something else is going on.

I am also still trying to be a person who's attentive to the wider worlds in which my friends and acquaintances live. Not sure that I'm doing well at that anymore than with the job search.

Oh my goodness, if you think you might have a dislocated jaw from a cleaning ... I'm shuddering at the picture that paints. I hope you're not in too much pain!

I've had so few numbers of spoons available to me over the last few weeks that I've been kind of inattentive to people I don't want to be inattentive about. And since you've got the job search ongoing, then it's not at all surprising. Take your time.

I've decided to rule out jaw dislocation. After all, I can still speak and drink with no inconvenience. Pain is nonexistent for the most part, except with occasional chewing issues at meal and snack times. I am now considering cancelling the dental appointment.

Another alternative: TMJ from stress. (I.e. the muscles in your jaw are clenching inappropriately).

Probably best to get it checked out, if you have the needed spoons, and the spoons for making the appointment have already been spent.

Carrying pain and a job search on top of your many other concerns is a muchness. I hope you have the resources that you can follow through in finding out what the "something else" is. I hope for you just the right mixture of care, compassion and grace for you to use with yourself and the world.
