Trying to shop for a 4XL winter jacket for myself without travelling too far out of my neighbourhood. My current jacket is about 10 years old, and the design works for my brain. Trouble is that retailers have their own ideas about what I should be able to buy these days.
No buttons in front, zippered pockets...these are features to my brain, not design errors.

Looking for recommendations, not financial support.

I went shopping at Staples this afternoon, and there are several good options on offer. The trouble was in making up my mind which one to go with.

Opinions and suggestions, anyone?

I went with Serta Brinkley, if anyone's wondering. Feels comfortable enough for now.

I had a chair problem start on Sunday: two of the wheel assemblies in my office chair just snapped right under me. Bought the chair barely half a year ago because the older office chair was starting to lean a bit to one side.

Bought the chair from Jysk barely half a year ago because the older office chair was starting to lean a bit to one side.

In theory, I could find replacement parts and install them myself. I don't think I can find the right part(s), though. Not fast enough. The chair that broke is a Snertinge from Jysk. Bought it six months ago. I'm currently down to two options from Staples:

1) Serta Brinkley
2) Staples Turcotte Luxura

Recommendations, anyone?

I had a quiet day off from caregiving. Got some other stuff done. Maybe I climb a little further out of the hole this week, huh?

Oh, tomorrow I may need to shop for CPAP mask parts again...?

(I can get the magnetic clips as standalone items?!?)

Has anyone on my friendlist here tried this company?

A stranger I encountered at a Shoppers location over the weekend was wearing an orange KN95 that she attributed to them, and I finally tracked down the website. Looking for opinions on their product...

Of course, I haven't really rested today. The following things got done today:

- vacuumed two floors of the house
- picked out stars to host a half-dozen or so planets on that Edge of Midnight map project
- did two walking/shopping trips mainly for exercise
- practiced a bit more for Clip Studio Paint via the Cintiq tablet/monitor
- uploaded a scan of a sketch I drew for my Amateur Press Alliance back in 2006 to various social media outlets for the sake of self-promotion and because of Batman Day
- cleaned up some of my kitchen mess
- applied for another job
- cleaned my CPAP gear, as I need to do each weekend
- wrote a note of comment to the Ottawa Board of Health about protection measures against SARS-CoV-2 and other contagions of note and worry

I'd like to get a new "office/studio" chair, but barring some surprise via trashnothing.com, that's probably not going to happen soon. The one I use currently leans a bit to my right because of years of my leaning to that side when I sit down in it. Also, it deflates an inch after a certain amount of time sitting down.

Bought a new set of headphones today. With a microphone built in. It's been a decade since I last bought a set of headphones, and I'm getting a hunch that my next job after the one I'm doing now might need such a device. Not sure why.

Where's a good place in Canada - not the one named for the river in South America! - for getting new KN95 masks? Bonus points if I can get them from an Ottawa source + have them delivered?

I've had Ontario Medical Supply recommended to me. Who else?

Laundry and shopping got done. Bus pass has been updated for another month.

Ottawa the city is still here, too.

Does anyone know how one might get specific single colours in their current set of coloured pencils?

It's been a quiet day here for the most part. Watching Clip Studio Paint-related webinars on YouTube, taking phone calls, shopping and exercise walks, listening to the radio. Even got some practice time sketching in Clip Studio Paint just before supper, which I'm in desperate need of.

Still feels like I'm getting nowhere helpful. Not right now.

I have since learned that Home Hardware carries KN95 masks in five-packs for a little over C$6/pack. I picked up two packs for a little over C$13, so that helps for a few more weeks.

Another week of paid work coming to a close. Not done with the contract yet. Also, a question.

I just got my second-hand Wacom Cintiq 22HD Touch on Monday. The plan: plugging it into the iMac 21.5" (Late 2009) and putting it to work on illustration and graphic design projects.

Wrinkles: I have an HP Z24nf G2 external monitor that I went to a lot of trouble to get enough Air Miles for last year and it's still useful so I want to keep using it. I only have one Mini DisplayPort output port with support for DVI, VGA, and dual-link DVI (adapters sold separately). I have an adapter that will let me plug the Cintiq into the iMac.

"Dual-link DVI adapters" are a thing?

If so, I think I want one.

I've lost the Roma Barber Shop on Elgin Street, a place I've gotten haircuts at since moving to Ottawa in 1985. I found that out yesterday when I went over from Perfect Books to reassure the Costanza brothers that I hadn't forgotten them. The shop windows were already papered over.

I'm about to lose the Nutrition Company at Gloucester Centre unless the Husseinis can find a buyer before end of March. Bateson House, the furniture shop at Place d'Orléans Mall, is having their closing sale.

One of my nieces and nephews survived COVID-19, with help from the vaccines. Other friendly acquaintances have died of COVID before any vaccine could be delivered to them. Still others have died of the side effects of the Pandemic combining with other medical issues that they were either already dealing with or unaware that they had to deal with.

I'm not about to give up democracy to the fascists.

So we're starting the day in Ottawa-Gatineau with an Extreme Cold Warning. This is not something I was looking forward to, as I have assorted shopping chores requiring a certain amount of travel today.

One of the first things I noticed on the news on my cleverphone at breakfast today was the death of Alexa McDonough. She used to be the federal NDP leader back in the 1990's. First woman to lead a federal party in Canada that I can recall. I believe that I met her once at a discussion on women in politics at the National Arts Centre, but I cannot recall the exact year.

More if I can think of it later today...I hope?

Not a great day.

Went out for a haircut because of the interview planned for Wednesday morning, but I got to the barber shop too late in the afternoon: just after 2 PM. Long story, there, and I only had my neurology to blame for that.

Ditto for losing one of the two shopping bags I took downtown with me to the barber shop. Not sure where or how I lost it, but it's gone and I'm not getting it back. Even if it made it to OC Transpo Lost and Found at Heartwood House.

I can't yet find the right kind of bandage for the bridge of my nose. I guess I need to keep fiddling with the CPAP mask. I had a comfortable fit with the old mask for the better part of a year. Now, with this one? I had it tight enough to raise a welt.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far for dealing with the problem. I keep thinking it should be a simple matter of adjusting the fastening straps...

Okay, if I start shopping for new masks, here in Ottawa, where do I go and what do I need to get?

Because I'm thinking that while I still have money to spend, I want some of it going to masks.

Searching and researching resumed this morning.

Although, to be honest, the job alerts I've subscribed to via Indeed, Jobilico, Workopolis and the Canadian federal job bank never stop, not even on statutory holidays. So I find myself spending at least an hour a day on weekends and holidays looking at those alone, no matter if I click on any links or not.

I went down to the ByWard Market on Sunday. It's been over a month since my last visit, and I worried that Globe Mags and Cigars and Mags Plus were both finally defunct. I am pleased to report that the first of these is still in business selling newspapers, magazines, and (not so pleased to say the same about) assorted smokeables and related gear. Google Maps tells me Mags Plus on Rideau Street - about a block or so east of ByTowne Cinema - is still active, and I wasn't about to push my luck by personally confirming that as well.

I was amused by the displays currently active at the LEGO Store at the Rideau Centre: the Disney Castle, a replica of a classic Adidas running shoe(!), the apartments of Friends, and a four-story Marvel-authorized Daily Bugle playset, with twenty-five figures of assorted Marvel characters. Both Spider-Men, Parker and Morales. "Spider-Gwen" AKA Ghost-Spider from Earth-65. Daredevil. Firestar. Even Spider-Ham! Venom, Carnage, Doctor Octopus (Otto, not Carolyn), Sandman, "Green Goblin" Osborn, and a few others. Probably runs to C$500 to take that one home, and Marvel fan though I am, I am not that fanatic nor anywhere near that wealthy.

Still waiting for the advisory to go to the pharmacy to get dose # 2. I'm on their e-mail list for this, so that notice should be soon. Perhaps before the end of the week?

Have received word from Lloyd Penney that there will be physical and online components to "Third Monday" tonight, the latter for those of us unable/unwilling to visit Orwell's in Toronto in person. This is good news, I think.

Hoping to see Black Widow next week, finances and health/safety rules permitting. I do continue to read the current ongoing comics series that inspired the movie. Both Natasha and Yelena are core cast members in the comic book series, which is currently set in San Francisco. You should be able to just drop in on the story arc in progress without too much trouble.

More as it occurs to me.

One of my job applications is being held for further review. Two others got "no thanks" notifications today.

Meanwhile, I rewatched a tutorial video on anatomy and perspective, got groceries and newspapers, mowed the back lawn, and took up Gail Simone's "MyBrag" call on Twitter.

So all of that happened today.
