Arm Pains

I think I've been slowly damaging my arm for weeks now. Maybe years.

More on this another day.

The muscles connecting my neck, shoulders, etc. have been irregularly aching for the better part of a week. I don't know if that's down to "sitting at the desk" posture, sleep postures, sudden movements while riding buses, some combination of those, or something else.

My knees feel mostly fine now.

No pain.

Now, the "t", "o" and "i" keys on my A1243 Apple keyboard seem to be wearing out under continuing heavy usage...

Thistles

I need to be more careful in my weeding of the yard.

The shoulder pain from Sunday's vaccination booster went away yesterday. I wasn't thrilled with having that ache renew with each keystroke at my current day job, but that's over now.

(Two more months on this contract, FYI.)

Getting a tablet computer through Air Miles points. Seems like a good idea at this point for several reasons.

Not a fan of the extreme cold situation in Ottawa-Gatineau right now this morning.

Didn't win the lottery last night. *sigh*

More later...

Shoulder still hurts.

Of course.

And filed in the folder marked "It isn't about you, Dwight!", I see there are still fools seeking to make the world burn. In Atlanta for example. That shooter. And that sheriff's department captain with his "one bad day" speech turning out to be a walking, talking, Trumpist-tee-shirt-hawking bonfire on legs. Senator McConnell bouncing back and forth between Washington and Tennessee. The people pushing vote-suppression legislation across the States. Premiers who look very much like they're trying to screw up the COVID file in seven provinces while disguising themselves as people who give a damn.

I'm trying to register page templates in Clip Studio Paint through the arm pain.

Maybe I should take a break and watch Coroner instead?

I think I actually got a couple of hours of real sleep last night. Maybe the Advil helped with the hip pain?

Anyway, breakfast shortly, and chores thereafter.

I just tossed a literal handful of notebooks from grades 5 + 6 into the recycle bin. Also, The Force of Star Wars, a Christian conversion book trying to piggyback on the success of A New Hope when it first hit the movie theatres.

Over forty years...

And I just found out that [personal profile] bunsen_h is in hospital himself now.

Not for COVID-19. For spinal injury as a consequence of someone else knocking him off his bike. Thankfully, he's alive to tell the tale himself, and has done so tonight.

*winces*

FYI: he and I know each other from the Ottawa SF Society. I think he's one of the surviving co-founders.

Yes, I just saw the reports on Variety and THR, and some discussion on TrekBBS.

Perhaps this isn't the surprise that I first thought.

Between the spinal injuries on the set, the allergic reactions to costume-related make-up, the similar and more permanent injury of a production assistant on location, the constant abuse from toxic "fans" that she's certainly been dealing with, whether the abuse is because she's "out" or because her character is...and then, there's the simple fact of the "60-80 hour work weeks 9 months a year in the Vancouver rain" before any of the rest of that gets factored in.

Whatever the reasons for her choice, I hope Ruby Rose has a good life, that she lives long and prospers with peace of mind and heart through it all. Thank you for your performances. You brought joy and wonder, danger and excitement, and a set of ideals behind it all. Thank you for taking this chance.

To whoever's next up to wear that cape and wig and ride those motorcycles: whoever you are, I look forward to seeing you do your best with the people around you on both sides of the camera. I hope you find your own joy and wonder in this work in progress, and that it will keep you around for the long term. And I thank you for taking this chance.

I found out this morning by way of a job ad sent to me by Charity Village. It's called the Canadian Headache Society or "Migraine Canada". Turns out they're currently using a "migrainecanada-dot-org" domain name, seeing as the more logical "migraine-dot-ca" is being cyber-squatted upon.

Seanan McGuire made a point about the versions of "Home" we keep on carrying with us, no matter what other people said about and did to those versions back when they actually existed physically.

There were things about living out west that I hated and feared. That I was glad to be away from when I moved here to Ottawa-Gatineau. There are things that I was and still am glad to have found when I got here. I didn't go through gentrification (yet), and my city may be less hard-hit by climate derangement during the rest of my lifetime than other parts of this planet.

But I realize now that it still hurt that I felt that I had to leave in the first place. Being able to fly away to a place that felt like it was going to be healthier for me...and was and still is, in several ways...doesn't detract from that hurt.

I go outside to check first for the morning newspaper and then to put a couple of garbage bins back in upright positions at the curb...and trip on the last step to the driveway.

Knees and wrists.

Knees and wrists.

Apparently, nothing too bad so far or I wouldn't be able to type this in the normal way. But, still...

I was already planning to wake up at about 5 AM. Did NOT need the headache that actually woke me up about 30 minutes early.

First there was yesterday's Sinfest installment featuring Charlie Brown in an uncomfortable guest-starring - guest-stalking by some Sinfest characters' lights - role. So...a bit of discomfort for me, having identified with young Mr. Brown since the days I actually was the same depicted age as him.

So...today, [livejournal.com profile] popelaksmi points out this video to me.

And I share it via Facebook and manage to discomfit one or two people I'd rather not see discomfited. I think I'll forgo naming them for the time being.

I found the commercial - such it turned out to be - amusing owing to the parallels to the TV show Just for Laughs Gags. For those of you who haven't heard of it, it's a show made by the people who run the Juste pour rire comedy festival operation out of Montréal. Kind of like Candid Camera, except we never hear the people involved talking as a rule.

The reactions of discomfort were - I believe, perhaps mistakenly? - based in perceived misuse of surveillance technology, fears of being stalked...I may be mischaracterizing those reactions. To put it mildly. That would be a mistake on my part, because it runs the risk of wrongly downplaying their fears, whatever they are.

I'm sorry for causing that harm.

At least for the time being. I hope.

Comics news? Two more pages in Ian's hands as of tonight. The sense of progress is good. May there be more of this.

My neck hurts right now. Dull ache, yes.

I tried cleaning the house's front-side eavestroughing yesterday. Actually made some headway.

Now I think I'm paying for it.

Oh well...
