Apparently, there's a bit of a kerfuffle: no award given for the Op-Ed cartooning category at the Pulitzers this year. And not for lack of award-worthy talent either.

I'm looking at op-ed cartoonist Michael de Adder's latest illustration for the Friends of Canadian Broadcasting: Facebook as a Borg "cube" ship, Australia as the TMP version of the Enterprise...and I am starting to wonder if IDW - the current comics license-holders - and CBS Studios ought to get in touch with Mr. de Adder about...whatever he might have a mind to do.

To make it plain:

Hire this guy, people.

Jean Schulz is interviewed on Q on CBC Radio today.

Charles Schulz' widow. Unveiling The Snoopy Show, which is going to Apple TV+.

Starting right now as I type this entry.

Update: Here's the URL for the interview while it lasts...

You might have heard of Mr. de Adder. He's the cartoonist who got blacklisted by every major newspaper in New Brunswick because every major newspaper in New Brunswick is owned by the Irving family oligarchy and they're falling in with the Trump.

Anyway, the Friends of Canadian Broadcasting decided to throw in with de Adder as a consequence of that. Here's their opinion of his best work for this year.

Guessing that he's not a fan of Facebook either, although it does help some of his fans connect with him.

Leaving these links about the comic strip Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for you to look over.

I'm not sure that I can see what the fuss is about.

Wondering if it printed in last Saturday's Toronto Star hardcopy edition intact. (The Star prints Sunday strips on Saturdays as a rule.)

Follow-up: I just checked. Confirmed. It got through Toronto Star editorial scrutiny.

Today was his birthday.

Thanks again, sir.

Comment to this post and I will pick five things I would like you to talk about. They might make sense or be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

The list I was given by [livejournal.com profile] ms_danson is as follows:
What do you want to be famous for, mapping, ice cream, new vs comfortable, the look of the prairies )

...i happened to take a break or two along the way, and thanks to the Newsarama Blog, I found a link to this little item: an interview with Charles Schulz.

Perhaps, not so incidentally, I found something at Perfect Books whilst shopping for this and that downtown over the course of that weekend that Mr. Schulz almost certainly must've had in his personal library: a book by one of his professional role-models, Bill Mauldin, entitled Up Front. Regrettably, I was either fool enough or broke enough to not immediately buy that book, but it seems to me like something anyone who enjoys Mr. Schulz' work ought to be adding to their own collection.
