I'm watching the Day 2 testimony of Catherine McKenney and Mathieu Fleury at the Public Order Emergency Commission's hearings into the Convoy Siege of Ottawa as I type this. Playing catch-up is what I'm doing.

Chilled anew at the dysfunction - accidental in places, intentional in others - that enabled this three-week siege of Centretown and Lowertown. Fleury and McKenney describe a horror and a threat that was both loud and quietly creeping. Friends of mine who live and/or work in those neighbourhoods, strangers as well, affected in an ongoing series of not-so-micro-aggressions. The theft of so many national symbols in service to a crime against the residents and workers, and a worse crime being demanded of the Senate and the Governor-General via that "Memorandum of Understanding".

We are not done with this, because the people who organized it are not done making plans to harm the rest of us. These hearings are needed, in part, for that reason.

Updating my cleverphone apps now that I've got my shopping, banking and newspapers in hand for the day. I'm a bit annoyed at having put off the newspapers as that meant I missed The Globe and Mail but that can't be helped.

Also, only mildly surprised that my preferred bank branch is closed on this particular Saturday, but at least I was able to confirm that I could get my bus pass topped up for next month. Just in case.

Job search question: who here knows anything beyond Wikipedia reports and the company website about a Vertex Venture Holdings company? I got a text message from someone claiming to represent them on my cleverphone asking if I was interested in an online interview. Is this really part of their normal hiring routine?

Putin and company are a (vampiric) pain in the necks of the Russian, American, British and Canadian peoples. Among those of other countries/nations as well. This is another part of the list of reasons why.

The Republicans seem to see Mr. Mueller's "duty" as being to self-discredit as quickly and as disastrously as possible. Which is nonsensical at best, and dangerous to the US and to the people of many other nations as well.
