The fact that one of his appointed Yes Men is trying to lean on one of your people on the ICC: I'm not surprised in the least. He is a wannabe mobster, and it's reflected in his henchlings. They're not strong enough to be actual henchmen, they're just henchlings since they're so blatant about their actions.

Date: 2020-04-20 08:26 pm (UTC)True story of Trump's New Jersey casino experience. He wanted to take over a casino that was under development that the developer had abandoned, I think the guy had lost his financing. Trump went to the NJ gaming board and lied through his teeth. He claimed that "banks are after me every day, offering me below-prime financing, begging me to borrow money from them." No banks were offering to lend them money, he'd stiffed so many banks that none of them would lend him money. When he got the license to take over the property, he had to go with junk bond financing with ridiculously high interest rates. When the casino opened and the first balloon payments came due, he wasn't making enough money to cover it. His dad came up with the ingenious solution of sending one of his money guys to the casino with a $6,000,000 check to buy poker chips, then bring them back to NYC and lock them in a vault. A free loan. Problem was it was blatantly illegal: all money into and out of a casino is very closely tracked and it was quickly caught. Fred was fined, The Donald was fined. They should have fined them both double the amount of the transaction, that's how you make these jerks learn a lesson. Ultimately the casino failed, and it brought down the other two casinos that Trump owned. Trump was quoted that if you owed a bank $10,000, you have a problem. If you owed a bank $100,000,000, THEY'VE got a problem. It's estimated that he owes Deutschebank over $300,000,000. They don't know what to do: you're going to foreclose on a property owned by the President of the United States, even though he is a deadbeat?! All of his golf courses, except for Mar a Lago are shut down, huge amounts of his staff have been laid off, and his resort properties are eligible to apply for relief under these government programs that Congress passed.
