Hungarian politics, like most European systems, is parliamentary and Magyar was elected as a Prime Minister (not a USian style President) so it's worth paying attention to the trajectory of parties as much as their leaders. Nationalism in Hungarian politics tends to have two popular forms; the anti-Russian centre-right to right wing form previously espoused by the Tisza Party, and the pro-Imperialism right-wing to fascist form, and both forms overlap in the middle. Economically Magyar is a hypercapitalist who claims he objects to the "feudalist" corruption of the pro-Imperialists, which Magyar connects with Orban's move away from the EU and towards Russia. Magyar hasn't moved towards the centre but instead lead the Tisza Party further towards the right-wing. We'll see though. He's a populist and will pay attention to public opinion up to a point.

(Also, he has the fash haircut, which in male European politicians under a certain age is always a tell. [/only partly joking])
