On the Winter Holidays of 2024
Dec. 22nd, 2024 10:34 amI've noted this before: in 2002, on Christmas Day, my father died of metastasized renal cell cancer. Some forty years earlier, a cousin of mine was born on Christmas Day.
The day has been a mixed blessing for my extended family across the decades, and I wait and wonder what twists the occasion will bring this time.
And so...here is us again. Those of us still here, anyway.
It's been a wild year, running the full range of emotion from joy to despair.
I wish you the best possible greetings of the Season, by whatever Name(s) you choose to honour it. I wish you peace, hope, wisdom, freedom, justice, and love. If you do not find them, may they find you and may it bring joy to you when they do.

Morning Travels
Apr. 25th, 2023 09:02 amI went for a walk, partly for exercise, partly for newspapers and other essentials-to-me.
The hand sanitizer apparatus at the local grocery and pharmacy were still out of order when I got there, the former for about a week now and the latter being hour-by-hour iffy.
I am pleased to note that my polite complaints about this were not met with indifference or disrespect. Both establishments took measures to either get the equipment working again or to provide a workable substitute system until repairs/resupply can be properly done.
Should I name these stores as examples of making positive efforts to assist their customers?

On the Edge of 2023 (Gregorian Calendar)
Dec. 31st, 2022 10:09 pmI feel as if I've said not enough and too much over this past year at the same time. Paradox is permanent. Whether that makes sense or not, it's still true.
I still don't have any ideas as to resolutions for 2023. Not sure that I should, really. Just having them, never mind naming them, seems like tempting fate or God or gods to reach out to break me for that act alone.
Good luck to you all. May we be kind. May we be just. Whether we're sane or not. Whether we prosper or not, although I hope we do that as well. There will be no guarantees of any of this. Still, as some of you have noted, healing the world to whatever degree possible is an obligation upon us all.
