Seriously, friend!

I hope better days are coming and that today was kind to you!
dewline: Community is Real! (community)
Noting that today is - among other things - Red Dress Day, Dutch Liberation Day, Danish Liberation Day and Cinco de Mayo. Whatever you're observing in whatever way today, may the day be kind to you.

I've noted this before: in 2002, on Christmas Day, my father died of metastasized renal cell cancer. Some forty years earlier, a cousin of mine was born on Christmas Day.

The day has been a mixed blessing for my extended family across the decades, and I wait and wonder what twists the occasion will bring this time.

And so...here is us again. Those of us still here, anyway.

It's been a wild year, running the full range of emotion from joy to despair.

I wish you the best possible greetings of the Season, by whatever Name(s) you choose to honour it. I wish you peace, hope, wisdom, freedom, justice, and love. If you do not find them, may they find you and may it bring joy to you when they do.

This year, as ever...

Canada Day, From Now Onward

Wishing everyone a kind outcome this Labour Day.

This annual event has come (back?) to my attention.

To those of you who celebrate having one or more cats in your lives, may today be kind to you and those cats, regardless of who belongs to whom.

Noting that today is July 4th. For those who consider themselves American or American-adjacent and who actively observe this anniversary for whatever reasons, happy or sad...I hope today is kind to you all.
dewline: Virus Don't Care (COVID-19)
I went for a walk, partly for exercise, partly for newspapers and other essentials-to-me.

The hand sanitizer apparatus at the local grocery and pharmacy were still out of order when I got there, the former for about a week now and the latter being hour-by-hour iffy.

I am pleased to note that my polite complaints about this were not met with indifference or disrespect. Both establishments took measures to either get the equipment working again or to provide a workable substitute system until repairs/resupply can be properly done.

Should I name these stores as examples of making positive efforts to assist their customers?

I feel as if I've said not enough and too much over this past year at the same time. Paradox is permanent. Whether that makes sense or not, it's still true.

I still don't have any ideas as to resolutions for 2023. Not sure that I should, really. Just having them, never mind naming them, seems like tempting fate or God or gods to reach out to break me for that act alone.

Good luck to you all. May we be kind. May we be just. Whether we're sane or not. Whether we prosper or not, although I hope we do that as well. There will be no guarantees of any of this. Still, as some of you have noted, healing the world to whatever degree possible is an obligation upon us all.

We've known each other going back a couple of decades now through first Livejournal, then Dreamwidth and also Facebook and elsewhere. Glad to still be in touch and in friendship!

Good day, and good luck.

May we end up with a kinder, better set of governments than the day started with.

To those of you observing either or both of these events today...I hope that this day is kind to you.

In the former case, I'm a day late. In the latter, I'm a day early. I hope you'll both forgive my timing on this, and that better times await you both!
