So there's this lady in Cornwall, Ontario who's looking to find new homes for a whole lot of books...and I'm thinking that I have something in common with her. I'm operating on a much smaller scale - for now, at least - in terms of my virtual yard sale via Facebook Marketplace.

That may have to change. I may need to start officially operating a second-hand bookstore.

One trouble is that I'm dealing with what I suspect is ADHD in my own skull, with trying to work out my housing future, and trying to get and hold onto steadier work. Also a tonne of other crap to deal with on an ongoing basis.

Another is that there's already two such stores within walking distance of my current home. One's operating in connection with the Ottawa Public Library. The other is one of the remnants of the Book Market chain that used to dominate the city. Both are swamped with product of their own, as Myriam Gaudet's Red Cart Books is in Cornwall. Add in the Chapters/Indigo first-hand bookstores at Place d'Orléans and on Innes Road and the situation is more complicated.

Third: I don't think I've got enough product to really get going.

Fourth: financial paperwork that might ensue? I don't even want to think about it because panic attacks.

Fifth: Pandemic.

So I'm likely to just add a relative handful of titles to my Facebook yard sale for now, and put off that bigger question to April. At the earliest.

I've skipped another day of posting yesterday, right?

I tried to sell off another book that I wasn't really paying attention to anymore - so I thought until that day, anyway - and went in person to make the sale. What If? by the Randall (XKCD) Munroe. I showed up, the other party showed up, but we never spotted each other. I thought I'd explained where I was going to be waiting, but clearly I'd messed up.

I go home, log into Facebook, and there's the accusation of bad-faith negotiation waiting for me. I explained my POV, posted a picture of a landmark near the meeting site publicly and left it at that. I'll either be believed or not.

Took out a couple of bags of paper for recycling this morning (which won't be going to the curb until a week from Wednesday). Sold off some unused tracing paper tentatively to a friend who's made my masks for me. Applied on four jobs this afternoon.

I guess I'm making some sort of progress?

Sorry for the lack of new entries here. Been busy with a lot of stuff here.

Okay, I think I mentioned feeling the need to start culling my book collection, preferably avoiding the landfill. Whether this is too ambitious...?

The Science of Battlestar Galactica, yes. I had fun with it. Now I need to find a new home for it. There's a bunch of other stuff on offer on Facebook Marketplace if you're interested and have more room in your budgets than I do in mine right now, or you know people who are and do.

More on other stuff to come...

I'm thinking of starting to advertise books I want to find new homes for. Probably via my Dreamwidth blog, but maybe elsewhere too? I don't want to unload too much of my library, but there's stuff here I haven't read in months to years that might find a more appreciative audience elsewhere.

Going to the Mammoth Book Sale at the Ottawa City Archives this morning.

I'll check in later in the afternoon, okay?

Chores done. Searching and researching continue this afternoon. After supper, the plan is laundry and watching Agents of SHIELD.

Tomorrow, there's a big book sale on at the city archives building on Woodroffe and Tallwood. I plan to seek research bargains for my street names project.

...I've still got some stock left for anyone interested.

The price list I posted a few weeks back still holds, and I'm willing to entertain discount arrangements for people willing to buy multiple items from it, subject to product availability.

Looking forward to hearing from whoever's interested!

As finalized by Eliot R. Brown. Now available via eBay auction for sale by the original artist.

Who knows what it'll finally go for?

Hoping he gets at least what he's asking for, as it may well be worth that price...at minimum.

Okay, one more time.

I'm running a table at the Ottawa Small Press Book Fair this afternoon. Noon to 5 PM. Jack Purcell Centre, just off of Elgin Street in Centretown, on a side street sandwiched between Starbucks Coffee and the Elgin Street Public School.

The Ashcan Samplers are going on sale again, and I'll do sketches on commission for whoever puts up $10 per. Live portraits or your favourite fictional character(s). Bring reference if you're asking for the latter, please?

Hope to see you there if you're in Ottawa today!
