House chores done, bought a license for Serif's Affinity suite of graphic design 'ware today. I haven't installed it yet because the machine closest to hosting the software in my ownership right now is...well...not ideal. Even at OSX 10.10.5 and 6 GB of RAM. As for what I hope to get in the way of ideal, second-hand hardware...not here yet. More when I know it.

It's a busy-quiet day overall, though, for me and my co-residents of the house. Not discussing their lives here either.

More as it occurs to me.

I'm at the computer, listening to CBC Radio One at the moment. Also checking several job boards. Weather outside right now? Light rain, or so it seems looking out the windows.

More later...

As of this moment?

Employment: I've checked the job boards at Ottawa City Hall, and am working my way through the job alerts I'm subscribed to via Indeed, Workopolis, Jobilico and the federal job bank. My "job search diary" spreadsheet is now at...a very large number of pages.

Listening to The House on Radio One.

Keeping an eye on what little chatter there is on my favourite Delphi Forums groups these days. I'm not surprised that Facebook took their lunch. Saddened, but not surprised.

Got another mile in on the exercise bike this morning, and I expect to do some vacuuming later. Bank stuff after that, which means travelling because up to now I haven't done the online banking thing.

I went outside to fetch groceries and lunch from the local mall. It's 10-15 minutes away on foot, as previously noted, which usually makes it convenient. It also led to me coming home drenched from sweating. And I note that - as I type this - Ottawa's under heat warning and severe thunderstorm watch as defined by Environment Canada.

So I think I'll job-hunt and web-chat from the basement for the rest of today. Picking up my copy of the Star Trek Ships of the Line Calendar 2020 edition can wait a day or two.

I stayed close to home today, but for shopping errands. Some rice, a couple of bags of Rip-L-Chips, a Lime Coke. Nothing too fancy, just the sort of thing you can find at the local pharmacy-grocery hybrid store and gas stations. I'm sorry I didn't do much travelling, except that...well, I don't cope with crowds and heat and humidity the way I used to be able to.

Hoping you've all had a good day.

...and I'm making my way through the morning e-mails. Nothing particularly earth-shaking, for good or ill, I'm afraid. The Sunday Edition is on the radio right now, with David Gutnick reporting on a Korean-born opera singer now living in Eastend, Saskatchewan of all places and making a go of it as a church singer there when she's not working as co-proprietor at the local grocery.

Canada is vast, as they say. It still contains multitudes. And it keeps changing as the years go by. Other people who live in Eastend these days come from other places, too: Singapore and Peru and London...the other one on the other side of the Atlantic.

I've never been to Eastend. I left Saskatchewan before they found that dino-skeleton "Scotty" that's another of the neighbourhood's claims to fame. I'm a little annoyed to have missed out.

More on other subjects later...

Still here. I just don't have much energy to say stuff with right now.

Not forgetting the rest of yez...and noticing that some of you are in the same boat right now. Empathy to you.

Got chores done, bought snacks I shouldn't have, did some font shopping that I'm going to refuse to regret despite my finances, and enjoyed Doctor Who season-closing movie.

Spoilers about that last one in the comments if anyone cares to discuss...

Sorry. I don't have anything fit to talk about tonight.

Maybe in the morning...
dewline: Text - "On the DEWLine" (Default)
...and things are pretty normal and chaotic.

I reactivated FB Purity for my Facebook usage last night. Seems to be working fine again, which is good for me.

More later...

I'm still here. Tired and aching, but still here.

...but I doubt that we have.

Still.

Not.

Normal.

Eight more work days and two more dental appointments...and I'll be back on the job market.

More later this afternoon/evening...

Another weekend done. Actually managed to get at least half an hour of sketchbook time in during the weekend.

More after work, if I can get my brain to focus.

Today was a statutory holiday because Confederation Day fell on a Saturday this year. So I got some stuff done at home and close to home. Laundry, shopping, and other stuff, mostly. This was a good thing in itself.

Back to work tomorrow. Long weekend is over and done.

It feels like boasting, and yet it doesn't. For some reason, that paradox does make sense now that I'm on the other side of that weekend. Got a lot of chores done, but didn't set aside any time for illustration for fun or profit.

A "blah" mood should not have any kind of smile attached to its emoticon.

More thought later...

It's been fun, it's been busy and yet it's been quiet.

I'm okay with that.

So, I've added a few more people to my circles here. This is good, friendly company being a happy consequence of rebuilding and renovating the internet presence of late. Thanks to you all for dropping by, and that includes the ones who quietly watch.

I should work up a good self-reintroduction, and probably will over the next day or two. Just...not tonight, okay?

...and glad to be seeing several friends old and new sign on here. I've been preoccupied with other corners of social media as well as off-line celebrations and obligations, for which I offer apologies without reservation.

More anon...

Going to see about fixing some of the YouTube linkage. Apparently, those didn't migrate properly with the entries I edited them into. Oh, well...
