Noting this for ongoing discussion...and Musk is clearly enmeshed in this particular mess, by our settler-nations' encouragement.

We may have an angle on how it's gotten this bad, courtesy of a Nandini Jammi, formerly of Sleeping Giants, and still activist on her own and with Check My Ads:

Those of you who live here in this province already know a lot of this.

The state of the living wage in various Ontario cities:

The reluctance of the provincial government to demand that people resume masking-up:

Urban sprawl enforced at the cities' and farmers' expense alike:

What happens to the various kinds of files of a temp company that goes out of business?

Asking for myself.

...everything after this latest movie, apparently. BBC and Disney+ just announced their Big Deal for access to the series outside of the UK from now on. CTV Sci-Fi is history to them now, just as the CBC was forced by Conservative Party pressure to walk away from their relationship for Canadian broadcast rights years earlier.

I smell ideological pressure on the BBC from somewhere, of course.

We have got to get private equity out of health care. Long term care, included. Everywhere.

I have to wonder, given this context re: Clip Studio Paint...

https://www.creativebloq.com/news/clip-studio-paint-subscription

Yes, Krita exists as an option and so does Affinity Photo...but I bought CSP for specific reasons of comics design suitability. So did many others.

I have this horrible sense that the current executive staffing at DC Comics is about to be undone. Looking at what's already happening at CNN and HBO Max is clueing me in.

The nightmare scenario I expect based upon reports re: changes at those other branches of WB-Discovery's corporate empire: trade paperback collections and e-subscription access might be severely curtailed in order to reduce revenues going to creators of those older works; the current payroll being targeted for purges of non-Trumpists; the DC character roster being ethnically "white-washed" and otherwise altered to serve Trumpist audiences.

Am I wrong to expect this?

This is part of a map I've been designing with help from assets from Maptorian. I was inspired by a map in the old Dent's Canadian School Atlas devoted to Canadian airline connections across the country, as well as by a recent job interview for a graphic design position.

I'm making this with Adobe Illustrator CS4, in case you're wondering.

I finally got to see this movie. By signing up for LinkedIn Learning through my local public library's web services. I'm a little annoyed at myself for putting off that choice for however many years it's ended up being.

For the city of Ottawa, it's Colonel By Day; For the province of Ontario, a civic holiday. For the Canadian Feds, it's Emancipation Day, a federally-proclaimed observance of the anniversary of the end of slavery as proclaimed throughout what was once "the British Empire" in 1834.

(Whether it's really over and done is argued about.)

The city and province act as if it's time off. The feds, not yet, despite their own proclamation. And so the businesses of the city act in conflicting ways about the occasion.

Right now, it's...confusing.

"Holiday" or not, I'm still looking for new work leads this morning anyway.

Okay, two more jobs applied for today. One federal, one with a mega-corporation.

1. David Olive on the acquisition of Suncor - PetroCanada's parent company - by Elliott Investment Management LP in New York:

https://www.thestar.com/business/opinion/2022/07/21/the-big-takeaway-from-suncor-deal-run-your-company-right-or-someone-else-will.html?rf&source=newsletter

Looks like another plan for asset-stripping targeting an already vulnerable company to my eyes. "Vulture capitalists", they used to call such firms, right?

2. And this is another part of why Suncor's in trouble. They're not the only culprit involved here, of course.

3. And now there's another nail in fossil fuels' collective coffin.

Today was warm, and windy...in a warm way.

The mess in progress at Rogers has not affected me too much, but for having to use my credit card when I'd rather use my debit card.

Extended family is mostly okay enough, so far as I can tell.

Found another job to file an actual application for. I'll know in four days if I can get into the candidate pool for it.

And I found that out today on my way back from a trip to a long-term care facility.

How am I supposed to trust pharmacies of any affiliation during a Pandemic that's still in progress when they do stuff like this?

Dymon Storage. I've bought two batches of 20 KN95 masks from them, and I just found out on the way home from an errand that they are out of stock and no longer being supplied.

Seems to me there might be a political fight at CBS HQ soon, if not now, between the bosses of the news division vs. those of the Star Trek offices...because I've seen the content and casting of the current Trek series. And have you noticed who the news division's taking on as commentators? Mulvaney and who else?

Yes, I am absolutely speculating in an ill-informed way here. It looks to me like the two divisions of the company are going to be at cross-purposes.
