dewline: A fake starmap of the fictional Kitchissippi Sector (Kitchissippi)
So a new offshoot from my Tranquility Press fanfic map projects takes me rimward in the direction of Auriga, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Orion and so forth. The Hyades, Pleiades, the spinward side of Gorn-claimed space, rimward of the Klingons...and the Delta Triangle.

Created for the first animated Trek series episode "The Time Trap", it was a region known for the same kind of mysterious disappearances as Earth's Bermuda Triangle until Jim Kirk and company went digging around in the neighbourhood and found out where some of the vanishing spacecraft of multiple star nations across the centuries had ended up.

Based on material from Star Charts and Stellar Cartography, I picked out candidates for two of the three "anchor" stars of the Triangle, and now I'm working on filling in the surrounding neighbourhood with continued help from HYGMap.space...

Noting that, aside from Bellatrix, the other two stars I chose are not necessarily locked in. I'm open to alternative candidates.

Excerpt from star map designed by Dwight Williams for the Edge of Midnight fanfiction project.

A sense of what I'm working on for fun right now.

...with searching for work and researching for an article I hope to have written by tonight. The article is somewhat inspired by and focused upon that Planning Primer at City Hall I went to last week. I think that Spacing Ottawa might find a home for it, but we'll see how it goes. In the meantime, I'll get whatever's done by tonight reviewed by the Pen and Paper Writing Workshop gang at the Rideau Branch of the Ottawa Library.

As for the job search, it seems a good idea to show, don't tell. You may remember earlier postings about the Federal Job Bank. This is what I was complaining about:

Some federal paperwork's been taken care of this morning, so I'm now at the main branch of the library searching for jobs, and researching for several personal projects. Since there's that writing workshop tonight over at the Rideau branch at 630 PM, and the paperwork this morning had to be delivered to a mall about halfway between home and downtown anyway...time to check the e-mail and job boards downtown after lunch.

Bus maps, swapp'd away;
Swapp'd in: flowchart-style now,
Geographies gone.

Trapp'd on King Edward,
Babe in mother's arms, screaming.
Mother, herself trapp'd.

All praise be to angst!
That "sweet" torment, addictive
to far too many.

Reservation's made
to share some newish poems
at next week's meeting.

Workshop last night was good and busy. We had ten or eleven in all showing up, and we all ended up learning as writers, professional or amateurs.

After eight months, I'm back at writing workshop. It's been too long.

More on other topics later...

Quoth Ian Gould:

"Ever have so many jobs to do that you can't pick one to settle on and you end up jumping back and forth and kibbitzing on Facebook as you go?"

House chores, shopping, job search stuff (which being employed right now and for the next twelve weeks does not really let me escape from because "twelve weeks"), news research for The New Medievalism forum at thevhive.com, and watching an episode of Legends of Tomorrow. All done today.

Sent off a proposal for an opinion essay to an editor yesterday. Not expecting to hear back right away for various good and sensible reasons.

Taking yesterday as a personal day was good for the mental health.

Still feeling brain fog, though.

Just did some editing to restore legibility to my home website at NCF. I haven't been happy with it for a few weeks, for whatever that's worth. So hopefully, it's fixed now.

Also, looking to update the page devoted to local comics shops in Ottawa-Gatineau.

...I must be working on banners for local fandom ads. Whether my design work will be of any use is another matter.

Something needs saying. So:

Some of you I've done wrong by and you know it.
Some of you I've done wrong by and you don't know it.
Some of you I've done wrong by and neither of us realizes it.

I apologize. Here and now. Whatever the circumstances were.

To those of you I haven't wronged: I hope I never do. I'll do what I can to avert it. No promise that I'll succeed, but I'll put the work in. I don't know if I'll always remember to ask for help if I need it, just so you know.

Some things I'm toying with can be found here at Picasa:

Two of the items therein have been noted here previously, but some of you newly adding me to their friendlist won't have known they were there to find. (Thanks much for that particular honour, [livejournal.com profile] opaqueplanet!)
