This is available via MIT's OpenCourseWare?

Guessing that the guy delivering this lecture will have a lot in common with the MCU version of Jim "War Machine" Rhodes in terms of career history...? At least, before Rhodes started hanging out with Stark...

I suppose we should have expected this reaction from "Tsar" Vladimir?

Basically, it looks like Putin and Lukashenko have decided that it's time the rest of humanity was forced to rewrite the 1944 Chicago Convention on civil aviation on their terms. I think they're going to need a time-out session, don't you?

I dreamt that I was in some alternative version of Ottawa trying to navigate its version of the Transitway. And where Sandy Hill and the University of Ottawa are located in reality, this version had what seemed like an airport terminal next door to the station (which was reachable from Centretown across the Rideau Canal - or River? - by pedestrian bridge). And Hurdman and the U of O had blurred together somehow with a giant cinema multiplex.

For some reason as yet unclear to me, I'm getting notices from Delta Air Lines addressed to a Trudy Ann Williams. No relation so far as I know, but the e-mails continue to reach my GMail inbox anyway.

Hopefully, this gets the lady's attention and she can remedy the situation. Assuming honest error on either her part or the airline's, of course.

Under books, Cool Beer Labels by Belson and Speeg. I'm not a beer drinker, but I do pay attention to stuff about design.

Public consultations by the City of Ottawa re: future transit infrastructure plans. Useful for those of us watching the LRT expansion process.

Stupidity in DRM: Kitty litter boxes. Yeah, really. If you thought DRM in toner cartridges for printers and for coffee machines was a pain...?

From Daily Kos: the backstory of the SR-71. X-Men fandom will have a particular affection for this design, since for several decades one of its offshoots was the signature aircraft of that superhero team.

More on other stuff later...

From the New Yorker: one more reason for me to not fly.

From the New York Times: Detroit by Air. No wonder the Batman v. Superman movie's using Detroit as its Gotham.

From bleedingcool.com: a theory about possible upcoming continuity modifications that might explain why a couple of recent SHIELD-linked stories have flashbacks set in 1968.

[livejournal.com profile] kallisti pointed this one out to me today. A tale in fragmented pictures of a world of aviation that might have been but for the events of 1959 in Ottawa, Malton and elsewhere...

I do not normally truck with the content of the National Post, but in this instance, I might well make an exception for the sake of our dignity as humans and my own petty career ambitions as both writer and illustrator.

Read on and react as you will.

Update on 8 Jan 2010: After about a day and a half, the alleged directive was withdrawn, re-interpreted...you get the idea.

Hoping for the best. Namely, that we don't ever get a repeat instance of this.
