Workopolis is one of the job-search engines that started up here in Canada, and I maintain subscriptions to several alerts from that service by informed choice. Weirdness from them this past couple of weeks is as follows: I keep getting notes about jobs at Cargill out in Saskatchewan. I don't recall signing up for those alerts!

There's a thing that bugs me about Randstad: when I look for jobs they're trying to get people matched to and type in "Ottawa" in the location box, I keep getting entries for Hamilton, North York, Concord and so on.

Most people living in Ontario will, I expect, understand why this is an issue for me.

By way of explanation, with the note that North York is part of metropolitan Toronto. Source of map is Wikimedia Commons...

I'm trying to find 3D models of the kind of cookware you'd use for heating up scalloped potatoes in the oven. Yes, it's inspired by an Inktober prompt.

To my continuing dismay, it's been a full year since I last held a day job. A disturbing personal record, and one I hope won't go much further, Pandemic or not. I am still actively seeking work as of this morning, not waiting for word on the more promising leads. I would like to make more time for practice with various pieces of software I consider essential for keeping the relevant skills "alive" and "active", despite the obligations I have on several other fronts.

I tried searching for Deneb on Kevin Jardine's searchable Galaxy map and got a "track" rather than a "dot". I suspect he's building "probability of error" into this map, and that the "track" in such cases will shrink as the GAIA team send out further data releases over the next few years.

Job alerts that I've subscribed with other purposes in mind - say, "clerk - Ottawa" - getting clogged with notices from Uber looking for drivers. Or for "newsperson" and getting notices of jobs at banks.

Not appropriate. Maybe I need to do some additional editing on my saved searches' parameters?

I seem to recall bookmarking a couple of search site, one of which was designed to ferret out DRM-free CDs currently available either in or to the record shops. I know I bookmarked it on my iBook, and now I want to do the same for my Windows machine's browsers.

Can anyone refresh my memory on the URL(s)?
