So I got a bit of good luck with today's eye exam: my sight hasn't worsened. My back-of-the-one-eyeball issue is still stable. I got a one-third discount on the price of that eye exam. And despite missing the bus I hoped to take home from that, I caught another one within two minutes when I was expecting to wait half an hour. So I started thinking today was a good day.

Then, I get home, log into Twitter, and find out about George Pérez's health news.

Then, I look at the solidarity among other artists and among fans in response to that news.

For all the other troubles of the world, yeah, all of *that* has been wearing me down. But that solidarity?

So Biden is declared the president-elect by the world's news services now.

So now, we celebrate and prepare to both build upon that victory and fight off whatever rage against that victory yet comes our way.

And 2022 is coming. And so are the further consequences of climate derangement. And the new fascist international isn't done trying to murder the rest of us yet (with or without help from climate derangement)!

In Klingon: qapla'!

In English: Good luck!

At the Ernst and Young Centre near the airport?

I'm not going this time. Too exhausting.

To those of you who are going, I hope you have fun.

...at least for now.

Some of you remember the write-up on that particular candy shop on the second floor of Place d'Orléans Mall.

Well, I walked into the store today and owner/operator Tracey Wuest had taped up "Store Closing - Final Days!" signage all over the premises. After nearly two years, the lease is over, and Tracey and her crew are moving on to other things. I expect they'll be keeping the doors open for a week or so more to clear out as much of the inventory as possible.

This is the last weekend of the store.

I'm gonna miss the place.

Whatever you're doing next, Tracey, good luck with it!

[livejournal.com profile] auriaephiala and [livejournal.com profile] jkahane have reminded me of today's significance.

Since I needed to do some shopping, I did what I usually do: take the bus to get to where I need to shop. A lot of things are within walking distance for me, but Ottawa being what it's become, I can't find everything I want within 15 minutes' walk of the house.

As for treating the planet right...I'm still trying. And still not quite succeeding to the degree that I'd like.

...albeit a little early, best to begin with a birthday greeting: to [livejournal.com profile] itsokimasenator!

Hoping it's a good day - and year - for you!

Good news indeed!

Safe journeys, safe working, and a safe journey home to you, sir!

(Now...who's still working on getting our homegrown spaceports and spacecraft up and running at the moment? Perhaps a look at spaceref.ca is in order?)
