One: Saw "Sometimes a Great Notion" on Galactica tonight. It worked. Not quite what I expected in places...but that's how it should be.

Two: Page One of Local Hero # 3 is tentatively tagged as done.

More to follow...

Just to remind everyone: I've yet to receive that third sketch request. Please respond at the original posting if you're interested.

Stolen shamelessly from [livejournal.com profile] dvandom:

The first three people to ask for 'em gets sketches of any character. You may want to provide references if you're not sure I know the character, and if I've already drawn a finished version of the character you may want to pick someone else. If you wish to continue the meme, post this italicized bit in your own LJ.

I was there, along with about 20 other small press players from around Ottawa. I expect the weather messed up the attendance plans of more than a few people who would have otherwise shown up. It was raining rather steadily throughout the morning and afternoon, after all.

Still, it was a good time.

If you're looking for more light - or not so light - reading entertainment, you might drop in on the Ottawa Small Press Book Fair next Saturday. I'll be there with a bunch of the usual and not so usual suspects pushing my smaller-press wares. I'll even do sketches for those wanting them.

Jack Purcell Community Centre, on the Lane of the same name just off of Bank Street. Saturday November 15th from noon to 5 PM.

Hoping to see you there.

Some scribbles about Dr. Nautilus. Please note this is not his finalized deep-sea ops suit...or at least not his only one.

The pencils of the last page of # 2 are now - for the most part - done. There may be some slight correction and reworking of this or that detail, but the bulk of that job is now Over and Done. I'm e-mailing it off to Ian Gould now.

More news to come...and next, a political news posting.

Back to you!

Back to an old office job for another 4-5 months for me, playing keyboard jockey. More than that on that topic, I am not discussing here.

Meantime, I'm over 80% done on the pencils for Local Hero # 2 as I type this. So I'm in the home stretch there, and seeing some of the inked pages as they come over the e-mail. I honestly think we're going to top ourselves with the second issue, friends and neighbours.

A quick b-day shout to [livejournal.com profile] alexdecampi, and I hope you've had a good one today, Alex!

Some of you will be reading this Livejournal blog for the first time ever, due to recent postings on [livejournal.com profile] ottawa_forsale, [livejournal.com profile] ottawa_arts and elsewhere. If you've been with me a while, you'll likely want to skip this one.

For the newcomers... )

Two more stores are now part of the Local Hero network as of this week, carrying copies of the police drama/super-hero series created by Ian Gould and myself:

First we have Mags and Fags, a news-stand/tobacco shop in Centretown. They're stocking LH in the mature-readers' comics and prose SF section of the store, right between Mad Classics and Analog! Kudos to co-owners Charlene and Christa Blaszczyk and David Morgan-Kirby for their support!

Second up is Entertainment Ink's flagship store at Place d'Orléans Mall in central Orléans, right across the hall from the ScotiaBank entrance. Many thanks also to Murray Sudletsky and his staff for their support!

E-mail addresses for each as follows, if you want to contact them to confirm availability of stock:

Mags and Fags: magsandfags@magma.ca

Entertainment Ink: entertainmentink@bellnet.ca

Both, of course, are also in the Ottawa phone book as well as being listed on Canada411.ca.

[livejournal.com profile] jbacardi got me thinking on this one...

Who comments the most on this journal? )
Is it me, or does it seem as if the closer you live to me, the more likely you are to comment?

The first issue is now in the hands of its first retailer in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, the Comic Book Shoppe's Bank Street store in Centretown, Ottawa. I want to give a shout-out to Rob Spittall, who runs the place, for his support of Local Hero: thanks much for stepping up, Rob!

If all goes as planned, other stores, in Ottawa, Brisbane(as noted in the sidebar links of this blog) and elsewhere across the planet, will be stocking Local Hero # 1 before too long. And I'm still working on pages for # 2 as I type this update.

More news to come, obviously...

Hi there!

In the run-up to the launch of the first issue of the superhero/police drama series Local Hero, there's going to be some stuff going on my Comicspace profile and that of the book itself that you won't see on my Artblog or Livejournal.

That starts today with the posting of the cover art for the first issue and the pencils for the first three pages of # 2 to my Comicspace profile. Writer Ian Gould and I hope you enjoy this material, and we look forward to posting news of additional news and goodies in the weeks ahead!
