One: Saw "Sometimes a Great Notion" on Galactica tonight. It worked. Not quite what I expected in places...but that's how it should be.

Two: Page One of Local Hero # 3 is tentatively tagged as done.

Meanwhile, north of the 174, the power went out just after 10 and was out until 6 this morning. Looks like I'll be watching Galactica through unofficial channels today...

Ouch. That timing stinks. :-(

I was worried that we'd have such an outage on my side of the Queensway, although I didn't know that it had hit for sure elsewhere. The lights did flicker somewhat here, but held on.

We heard (almost felt) a big thump, the lights went out, came back on, another thump, and that was it. When we got up this morning, it was 12 degrees in here.

Every time there's a power failure I think, I need to buy another flashlight, I need to buy batteries. And I don't think it again until the next time the power goes out....

I've got one of those wind-up flashlights you can find at places such as the Work Warehouse chain and Arbour down in the Glebe. It's got good output once it's got a charge in it, although it is labour-intensive to get that charge into the onboard batteries to begin with. I've a similar radio as well, in case I run out of batteries for any other radio in the house.

Seems to be an idea that makes sense.

Further info: it hit at least one mall south of the Queensway as well, I've since been informed.
