Culling

Just did some culling of feeds and deactivated friendlisters' accounts from my LJ friendlist. Seemed like the thing to do tonight. Slowly migrating a few more things over to Dreamwidth.

(And yes, still the same username at Dreamwidth as at LJ. I was surprised to find the username available, honestly. Glad, but surprised.)

Just removed [livejournal.com profile] insidecbc because CBC (or their agents) let the domain name lapse, and now it's being used by some Germanophone(?) weblogger for reasons I don't know the language well enough to understand.

(Seriously: if English-speakers are "anglophones", and French-speakers are "francophones", what might we call German-speakers?)
dewline: Interrobang symbol (astonishment)
In addition to uploading new stuff to several other websites and people, I think today ought to have some time set aside for fixing up the Links page on my "home" website. It looks so squashed, and there's people whom I want to add to it as well...

Not talking about it much because, well, it's not the point of this blog. Just noting the fact, as a way of explaining that my postings may veer from topic to topic somewhat more erratically than has already been the case up to now.

More tomorrow on other stuff.

I'm ending anonymous comments on this Livejournal. The spammery is become far too annoying now. My apologies to the honest and honourable ones still out there for the inconvenience that I know I've inflicted upon you as a result of this decision.

Hoping to post on other, happier - or at least more interesting - topics later in the day...

Some...person...decided to try to vandalize the two LJ communities I started up from scratch with some kind of video spam today: [livejournal.com profile] ottawa_sf and [livejournal.com profile] viarail_fandom. I do not know, and do not want to know what sort of video it was.

I've deleted the attempts and filed a spambot report with the LJ authorities. It is my hope that, given this fact and the knowledge that the same...person...has attempted to similarly harm other LJ community blogs and many of those communities' administrators will likely be filing their own spambot reports(or possibly invoking harsher measures by LJ management), this will soon be the end of the matter.

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] bunsen_h, for alerting me to the problem.

In the meantime, I'd like to take the opportunity accidentally given me to remind LJ users visiting here of the existence of these two communities:

[livejournal.com profile] ottawa_sf is set up for speculative fiction fans and pros alike, dealing in all media forms and all subgenres, in the Ottawa-Gatineau region of Canada. La francophonie du "sci-fi" est bienvenue aussi!

[livejournal.com profile] viarail_fandom is for fans of passenger rail services across Canada, past and present. I originally started it to focus on VIA Rail in particular, but after reflection it seemed wrong to leave out the provincial and regional/municipal services also operating across Canada. Encore: la francophonie est bienvenue aussi!

Hoping you're well and that we get past this particular Pain in short order!

The Ottawa Citizen published an opinion piece on Canadian plans for future space agency doings. I'm inclined to agree with much of the essay, save for "Theme 4" re: the International Space Station. I don't see why we shouldn't try for as much as possible at this point, both on our own and in concert with others.

Other stuff...

Dropped another load of magazines I don't need anymore at the OPL Main Branch's bookstore as a donation. Mostly, it was back issues of Wired with a smattering of other titles for variety's sake. I'm not entirely happy with my progress on this front, but eBay's just going to take too much time I need for other works.

Still looking for a regular day-job. I'm prepared to discuss privately - off-web - any and all reasonable leads.

More as it comes in...

I've added TV writer Jim Henshaw's Legion of Decency blog to my flist. If you're on LJ and want the syndicated feed, use [livejournal.com profile] henshaw_legion. If you want the original blog, go here.

It seems like it's a good idea at a good time.

Well, I've got the three column layout back(much preferred personally), and fixed or at least spruced up) a couple of other things. More fixes to come, along with a return to commentary later today...
