Both of these were gotten at the Ottawa Public Library's Mammoth Book Sale. Specifically:

The War That Ended Peace: The Road to 1914 by Margaret MacMillan.

Supercarriers by Tony Holmes and Jean-Pierre Montbazet.

The former, I heard about via CBC Radio a few years back. Author was interviewed, probably on at least two shows. The second...is about 30 years old if it's a day. Copyright date is 1990. Yes, it's about aircraft carriers. Yes, I have a militaria hobby. I must have 50 or 60 Osprey titles here in the basement. Lots of photos and painted illustrations of uniforms and hardware from across the centuries of warfare.

Also, six CDs of music that was new-to-me. Details another time.

...I thought I'd clip something from one of Kris Anka's process sketches for ImagineFX magazine back in 2013 to show what I hope Jessica Drew will get to wear at some point in her newly-revived solo series.

Spider-Woman redesign by Kris Anka

For that matter, I'll be interested to see if the current fuss triggers any activity over at Project: Rooftop.

I find myself intrigued by some of the design decisions that went into these outfits for the Heroes of the North web video series.

Not sure what I think of a trench coat for Yellowknife, personally...

Found out about this chart earlier today:

The basic design really has survived a lot over the decades, hasn't it?

I'm referring to a line of photo albums devoted to soldiers, sailors and aircrew from assorted nations that saw print in the 1980's. I have one, # 16, Modern American Soldier...but for the life of me, I cannot remember having seen them in either bookstores or hobby trade for roughly two decades now.

Can anyone tell me whatever happened to that company?

Longtime Saskatchewan Roughriders fan am I. And yet, for all I rack my brains, I cannot recall seeing even in 1960's archival footage and still photos a helmet with ye aulde "football, wheat stalks and ribbon" insignia on them such as we see at assorted Riders games this year. The not-so-old Spaulding-logo-derived "S" with laurel wreathing, yes. I remember that very well!

But not this design I've been seeing on TV on the Riders' "retro" suits this year.

How'd that happen? Anyone?
