Hoping all your hauntings were happy ones.

Yeah, so we're back to another Hallowe'en.

I wish I felt comfortable with what Ottawa's Chief Medical Officer of Health has said about trick-or-treating this year as of October 7th, seeing as some of the Pandemic rules are still in effect. We'll see over the next two weeks what the consequences of that choice are, depending on how many people decided to have their families run with it.

Meanwhile, some advice is making the rounds:

...I hope that today is kind to you.

Take care, and I expect to be back for a visit after work tonight.

...from the CBC Ottawa newsroom: "Who runs Hallowe'en?"

They ask because we're expecting some serious rainfall tomorrow night, serious enough to wreck the fun of a lot of honest young haunters looking for treats to play tricks for.

Got any suggestions for them? Anyone?

And they have a follow-up poll:

Twenty-six trick-or-treaters at my door tonight.

I am happily surprised.

Some of you might find this fun and useful...but mostly fun.

Wishing you all a happy haunting on general principles, and to [livejournal.com profile] quietdarkness, a happy birthday!

As for me, off to the dentist's office for the regular check-up! See you all when I get back...

Seems like some neighbourhoods across North American experienced a spike in Hallowe'en trick-or-treat traffic last night, and others just dropped like stones into ponds. Mine, anecdotally, dropped by about half its level of last year.

There's something going on here that I don't think sociopathic pranksters or economic climate trends alone - or together - can fully explain.

Am I right or wrong?

More on other topics later today and tonight...

How cool is it that we live in an age that we can see stuff like this?

...and we've got snow on the ground here in Ottawa. It might mostly melt away over the course of the day tomorrow, but the snowfall happening at all pretty much cements the end of summer and the uncertain status of fall in the neighbourhood at this point.

Well, it's been a busy enough day, well-travelled. Wanted to get down to Hunt Club to get a picture of one of the street-name signs for Paul Anka Drive, but no luck. Later in the week for that.

Tomorrow, the SF Society meets to discuss the present season. You can check out [livejournal.com profile] ottawa_sf  for the details if you're in town and interested.

More as we jointly think of it...

[Error: unknown template qotd]Definitely context-dependent. Key counter-question: is the zombie self-aware? If they are, then they're suffering.
