Again: Small Press Book Fair Spring 2014
Jun. 7th, 2014 07:42 amIt's at the Jack Purcell Centre, just off of Elgin Street. Look for the Starbucks and Elgin Street Elementary School and turn west at that intersection.
It runs from 10 AM to 4 PM this time.
Apparently, http://salgoodsam will be there for a good chunk of the afternoon as well. So you might want a look at his table.
I'll be offering fresh copies of Local Hero # 1, the remains of my Ashcan Sampler stocks from previous years, and whatever sketches you're willing to commission!

Looking for Commissions...
Nov. 8th, 2012 01:38 pm...because I've got dental bills to pay down and gifts to buy!
You've seen some of my pencil sketches and ink work if you've looked at the Flickr and Picasa galleries linked over on your right. I'm offering a chance to commission an original sketch!
Name your character or portrait subject. Penciled or inked, your choice. Price will be dependent on which medium and what size you want the sketch drawn on! Sketch card, 8.5 x 11, 9 x 12, and 11 x 17 are all options here.
How about it, people? Help me out here?
Contact me at "williams(dot)dwight(at-symbol)gmail(dot)com" with the subject header "Commissions", and let's get talking!

A quick note on portrait commissions...
Aug. 24th, 2007 12:14 pm...to say that "yes, I do portraits, too, if anyone's looking to have one drawn!"
It isn't that far away from the courtroom art I used to do(some of which is viewable at my Gallery site), and I have more experience with general portrait work.
More on this anon, either here or at the Artblog.
(Yes, that's one of my favourite Little Mosque on the Prairie quotes in my userpic. ;-) )

No Rain, Annie. Snow, Though?
Dec. 7th, 2006 04:32 pmThat was this morning. Not very much of it, to my ongoing surprise. It is December in Ottawa, after all: you expect to see more snow than the light dusting we've gotten in this city thus far. This sort of visual tends to wreck the images evoked by your music.
Anyway, almost done on Local Hero # 1 as I type these words. One more page, and a bit of tweaking on some of the others, and it will all be "in the can".
Meantime, I've been working on a commission for someone else -- yes, I do those, too, friends, neighbours and strangers. Just e-mail me if you're interested -- and looking for other work as well as taking care of assorted housechores.
Something else I've been wondering about of late is called comicspace.com. Seems to be patterned after myspace.com, but billed as tailored for the comics pros, semi-pros, amateurs and fans alike. I know that
budgie_uk's taken out an account, as has
warren_ellis among others. I'd be interested in opinions on the service from anyone willing to share.

Winding Down November 2006
Nov. 25th, 2006 10:56 pmSeems like I'm running around trying to keep a handle on any number of things at the moment.
More to follow...
- Local Hero: I'm about two and a half pages away from wrapping up the bulk of the work on # 1. There's some minor fixing-up on some stuff here and there on the earlier pages, but that shouldn't take too long.
- Commission Work: I've taken on some commission work. I do that on occasion, and I'll put the details up as soon as everything's clear to share.
- Random Weather Thought for Ottawa-Based Readers: It's been a good week, hasn't it?
- Star Trek Fan Notes: Picked up
dduane's Empty Chair, wrapping up her "Rihannsu-verse" saga(for now?). I hope to review that before too long. Also, I've been enjoying Corps of Engineers: Aftermath, an anthology collecting some of those SCE e-books that Pocket Books has been trying to persuade us all to become fonder of. I prefer the hardcopy, thanks!
- Software Notes: I've started studying SketchUp. Might come in handy down the line.
- Account Upgrading: Yep. I went and got myself a paid account. Figured it was time. Yes, it means I've gotten one of those e-cash arrangements, which is relevant re: commission work that I spoke of a little further up this posting.

Some Good Art News
Mar. 19th, 2006 10:27 pmI just found out tonight that Hero Games used three pieces of my handiwork in Digital Hero # 33.
I'm just a tad happier now.
