Testing Another Avatar
Yeah, that one doesn't look great.
I look like a smug know-it-all. I don't remember what I was thinking when I took that one, but I clearly wasn't paying proper attention to either doing the photography or posing for it. So regular usage of that image file is not going to happen.
See you tomorrow.

I'm still job-searching. Also, scanning loose family photos into the computer for an archival project. This afternoon at about 3 PM, I get Pandemic Vaccine Booster # 2.
More as it occurs to me.

Checking In - 19 July 2022
I've applied on two jobs today. This after some 20-30 job boards and other relevant web sites checked out over the space of 5-6 hours. Also, practice time on Affinity Publisher because why shouldn't I use a personal, family project as a means of developing desktop publishing/book design skills?
The frustration continues, and I intend to keep putting one foot in front of the other as best I can for as long as I can in spite of that.
(For some reason, I imagined myself writing something a lot more detailed and involved than this.)

Got some pix of the construction of one of the new O-Train stations, doubling as the renovation of one of the old Transitway stations here in eastern Ottawa.

Also, got some laundry done this morning before I went out for my day's shopping errands.
Rain day, too. Not the worst rain we've had, just enough to keep the spring melt moving along.
Oh, and I got a haircut last week. The CPAP machine mask harness was part of the impetus, the new job search was another reason. Although some people seem pleased with it regardless of the motives.

The Photography of Harley613: Elmvale Mall and the Rideau/Chapel Intersection
Some pix from neighbourhoods I haven't visited in a while. I don't know the photographer personally, but I recognize the neighbourhoods.

Walking Tours
I have really got to do a walking tour of the city. Or pull together enough of my Flickr collection to turn into a story for here.

An Anniversarial Aside About My Flickr Account
I just realized: I've had an account with them - through three ownership groups (Yahoo!, Verizon and now SmugMug) - for fifteen years now.
So...yay, me, I guess?

Street Names: A Selection of Imagery
I've written the occasional entry for Spacing Ottawa on the subject of street names, illustrating those entries with photographic imagery of the streets whose names were under discussion. Owing to inspiration from a friend, let me share some of that imagery again here. Some weirder, some more entertaining than others, others in need of a change.
In the same spirit as Toronto's Avenue Road, we have on the eastern edge of Centretown, also known as the Golden Triangle in between the Rideau Canal and Elgin Street, we have...the Driveway:

We have streets named for nations, foreign and domestic. Norway, for one example of the foreign...

For our provinces as decided by the federal government:

Our better-known artists are represented, too, among them the photographer Yusuf Karsh:

And a few others you may have heard of in relation to Canada:

Artists and entertainers from elsewhere, too:

Fictional characters of various origins:

Canada's first female-identifying doctor:

A revolutionary and a doctor who tried to save him from the consequences of his actions:

And there are more to be seen on my Flickr account...
