I’ve a very vivid memory of the CBC radio reporting, on the day, including a live phone call from an international correspondent speaking from a phone booth on one side of the square. I’d never before heard that note of horror in an adult’s voice; eventually the call was cut off. I’ve never heard it since, though you’d think it would be a well-known as the audio recording of the Hindenburg crash, and I wonder if it’s been suppressed.
