"Bright and blustery" is what the day became by noon hour. I'd just gotten home with today's NYT and TorStar editions by the time that happened. Getting some laundry done for my last week on this contract while I'm logged in here.

Home again

Just got home and logged in after a seven-hour drive from the Muskokas back to Ottawa.

There was a wedding in the not-so-immediate family to which I was invited to help represent the groom's side. Hence the journey to which I've been vaguely referring.

As a consequence of today's journey - interrupted in part by a collision between other drivers in Algonquin Park - I am too tired to care about things like "supermoon eclipses".

Following up on this comment...

I did say that I have a long list of places across Ottawa-Gatineau that I want to personally visit and explore on foot. Partly that's due to plain old curiosity, and partly it's due to this project I've taken on to document street names' histories via my irregular series of essays in Spacing Ottawa. (Thanks to anyone reading this who's been following that project over the years thus far, by the by!)

In the last couple of months, in between my other chores and quests for things like full-time steady employment, I've managed to knock off large chunks of a few neighhbourhoods on that list:

Manor Park
Southern Rockcliffe Park
Lindenlea
Tunney's Pasture
Westboro Beach
Riverside Park/Elmvale/Alta Vista
Lowertown East
Southern Glebe

It's not complete, and there's a long way to go. And a long way already travelled.

Hoping to learn much more along the way.

The question was raised in my mind a few days ago yesterday, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rfmcdpei. Living in Ottawa-Gatineau, there's a bit of a list I could cobble together without trying too hard. That list would be a long one. It would be a long list, even without my having to consider whether or not we're talking about travelling outside of Ottawa-Gatineau.

More to follow later in the week day on this subject in particular...

I went for a walk from Tunney's Pasture to Westboro Beach this morning. Exhausting, but therapeutic.

Also noticed this city has a street named for Atlantis. Had to get a picture of the name-signage, which I hope to post when my regular computer's fixed.

Going to Comic Jam at the Shanghai Restaurant tonight.

More on other stuff later.

Had an interview today, checked some leads at the library, got caught up on news and gossip around the Web, and I'll be at the Shanghai Restaurant tonight for the comics jam.

Not sure what tomorrow's plans are, but something will happen anyway.
