I bought an upgrade for Final Draft 11 last August. Just found out via Twitter this afternoon that they've gone "live" with sales of version 12 this past week.

Will have to look into the changes they've made after supper before I make a go/no-go decision.

(Scriptwriting/Drama was my best-graded subject when I studied Animation for TV at Algonquin College. Have never followed up properly on that, sorry to admit. My fault.)

Another Picard-related aside from Mr. Chabon, this one delving into spirituality and prophecy and the motives of the Zhat Vash faction...

My right hip and lower back ache, probably caused by bad lifting postures during the culling process in the basement. Which is stiil underway.

I had a sleep machine-related appointment this morning. The machine is now reprogramed from APAP to CPAP mode. Apparently, from what the people supplying and monitoring the machine can tell, it is having a positive impact on the sleep apnea situation. Severely positive.

I did not win the LottoMax jackpot. (Big surprise, right?) So the culling continues.

Does anyone want two editions of J. Michael Straczynski's Book of Scriptwriting? They were done a decade or so apart, and the second includes a Babylon 5 script in one of the appendices. Message me if you want them!

Some of you remember him for his novels. Some for his TV work, particularly Due South and Power Play scripts. And as the CBC obituary notes, there's a tonne of other stuff he had a hand in over the years.

I met him briefly once or twice in the course of my volunteer duties with the Ottawa International Writers Festival. I can at least say that I was able to thank him for the work that I saw on the TV screen. For that, I'm glad. I'm sorry that we won't be seeing anything more from his keyboard, or hearing his singing voice in anything not already pre-recorded. He was a joy to watch and learn from in person.

I'm sorry for the pain his closer friends and family must now be dealing with.

Thanks again, Paul. For everything.

Inspired by this entry from co-writer Alex Epstein's blog.

Interesting revelation on your blog. Sad to see the ROC box office figures being what they are, because I know that in my neck of the Ottawa woods, the buzz has been VERY good indeed.

In fact, I'm planning on going back for a second viewing within the week. I'm also pleasantly surprised to see the film actually holding on in the Ottawa market for five weeks now. I don't think I've seen a made-in-Canada movie do this well since Men With Brooms.

You'd think that being able to laugh at Ontarians and Quebecois both making laughingstocks of themselves at select points throughout the movie would fill lots of seats in the western and Maritime provinces. (And I speak as a Saskatchewan-born and Prairie-raised kid, so I like to think I have *some* expertise on this point! *grin*)

Thanks again for contributing to a Damn Good Movie, Alex!
