And switching from listening to The Current on CBC Radio One to watching Ottawa City Hall's Environment and Climate Change Committee meeting scheduled for this morning!

Yes, my job search continues as I watch this. I consider watching city council meetings part of my job search intel-gathering process.

About the provincial "Blue Box" programme in Ontario?

Is there anyone in my circles who'd like a smallish pile of back issues of The Hill Times? It's a twice-a-week newspaper about government stuff here in Ottawa, and I've occasionally bought a copy now and then across the last decade. I haven't kept track of which issues, what stories are covered, etc.. But I'd like to get them out of the house and into the hands of someone who might find the actual hardcopy editions useful and/or entertaining, rather than towards recycling firms or landfill. (And I can't trust that the firm(s) hired by City Hall won't divert to landfill.)

Ideally, it would be someone in Ottawa-Gatineau. But if you're willing to cover postage and handling...?

The Pelling Lab is based out of the University of Ottawa, and they may be able to save you some grief in terms of downsizing when it comes to stuff that uses electricity if you live in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Details here:

So. I've recycled a TV set, a tape recorder, a VCR and an alarm clock/radio/tape recorder combo-gadget this morning. I saw Nahlah Ayed speak about the experiences that filled her first book downtown at WritersFest this afternoon. And got some further progress on restoring my library storage tonight.

All in all, a productive and entertaining day.

"...and then it's off to drop off another batch of video tapes at the recyclers..."

And if I'd had enough sleep, I'd have remembered to check ahead before going to the recyclers.

Who are closed for the entire Easter weekend.
