If your town/city has them...what do they look like?

Ours are blue plastic, 15-18 gallon size containers. We just put it on the curb along with our trash on our scheduled pickup day.

About 4' tall, square, 2 wheels. Dark green with yellow flapping lids. These days its unsorted: you put paper ans glass and plastic all in together.

Collected every second week on the same night as garbage.

Same in Auckland NZ (different colours). Having the contents 'co-mingled' like this leads to lower recovery rates of things like usable glass, but better overall recycling as it is less hassle to use.

They're blue...but I never measured the size. Probably pretty similar to Ottawa's.

We also have a green one, but I'm not sure where it came from. One thing I've noticed over the years is that people sometimes take their recycling bins with them to other cities; one of my parents' neighbours in Toronto has/had a Calgary bin.

I've seen such bins, although they don't seem to travel quite so much to get to Ottawa...

Hmmm...

My trash situation is a little complicated

I live outside of town limits. My county doesn't provide rural trash pick up. I can pay a trash service $15/month to haul my trash but I choose to take it to a collection site that's only 4 miles from my house. They have dumpsters in several colors. Green for garbage and then various others to sort glass, plastic, mixed paper, corrugated paper. And there are long skips for furniture, yard waste, wood and metal.

BUT, I do get recycling pick up. They gave me 2 orange boxes that I can put mixed plastic and glass into, stack broken down corrugated next to, tied newspaper on top of and put a bag of mixed paper by.

Towns in my county don't have recycling on the street. Charlotte does but is the only place I've seen in NC that does. Two large blue trash cans with flapping lids and white lettering that says what does in which one next to regular metal baskets for trash. They take glass and plastic, separately, iirc.

big green wheelie bins-take paper, card, tin, foil and cans-don't take glass-we have to recycle that separately. Emptied once a fortnight.
