News Cafe, Anyone?

Doing a bit of shilling for my spacing_ottawa friends here.

Seems that during his prairie travels these past few months, my good editor Evan Thornton came across this little operation under the roof of the Winnipeg Free Press.

Here in Ottawa, the Presse Café under the roof of the CBC Ottawa Broadcast Centre comes close to matching it in terms of atmosphere, although there's enough wi-fi-equipped competition that perhaps it doesn't get used to the extent that it could be. Additionally, Evan notes some other factors in play that I didn't think of.

I wonder, though...CBC could have something really useful there.

Which means, of course, that Harper and his cronies *have* to stomp on it, no? [Short-sighted, self-interested Clue-less idiots. :-(]

Hmmmm ... I'll have to visit the Presse Café, once I finish re-installing the programs on my ancient laptop. :-)

Considering that Presse Café is as much a tenant as the CBC and Parliament itself in that same building, I think that'll be difficult for Harper to achieve in this case.

At least...more difficult than normal, we hope.

Fair warning, Presse Café is closed on weekends, and they have no wi-fi in the CBC Ottawa location. Sad but true.

(Wishing the local CBCShop boutique would also open on weekends, as is normal in Toronto's Broadcast Centre. Might make for an even better tourist draw, yes?)

I have driven by the cafe you have mentioned but not stopped there. I was surprised to see it as I thought the Winnipeg Free Press had relocated in a North End industrial park many years ago.
