Spoilers below the cut!
I like this development.
What it is - on one level at least - is a stopgap measure.
Consider: many of those considered first-tier or high-level second-tier Bat-rogues already know that Bruce Wayne was/is the first Batman.
Joker, Simon Hurt, Hugo Strange, Deathstroke, R'as Al Ghul, Talia Al Ghul, Bane and his original trio of cronies(and are those three still alive?)...and that's just off the top of my head. Any one of these people could have blown the lid off on their own for whatever (lack of) reason suited them.
Which makes Bruce's confession of financial support for the Batman operation a pre-emptive "firebreak" measure. It contains the damage these rogues could do before it's inflicted.
As for the franchising plan we've already been clued into?
That could be entertaining.
Waiting to see what happens next...

Date: 2010-11-04 12:43 am (UTC)I'm interested in seeing where this goes, tho I wonder if anyone will have the guts to have Bruce charged as a accessory to Batman's illegal activities.
Tho with his lawyers I doubt he'd ever go to jail....

Date: 2010-11-04 12:47 am (UTC)I'm sure that someone's looking to charge or sue Bruce under RICO as a form of "poetic justice". Whether the suit would pass the "vexatious - Y/N?" test, I don't know. I'm not a lawyer, either in the real 'verse or in any of the DCU versions of reality.
Bob Ingersoll, of The Law is a Ass fame, though? He might have a good and informed guess on the subject.
