Just so those of you outside of Canada know: we have a postal workers' strike in progress at the moment. Apologies for my delay in telling you.

Yes, Canada Post seems to be playing very dirty pool at the moment. But I still hold out hope of a resolution in the first half of this month. As I see it, both sides have strong incentives to reach an agreement: the postal workers because they can typically earn a lot in overtime during the holiday period, and the employer because 1) they're having trouble competing against behemoths like Amazon Prime in an era of online shopping combined with the decline of personal letter-writing, but more importantly: 2) public pressure. I mean, how heartless can you get? Even Santa Claus is on strike, with no letters being answered from H0H 0H0!!

I noticed - ebay has a message about it that comes up if you try to buy postage, regardless of where you're sending things. I saw it eight times yesterday and there was only one overseas parcel, to Switzerland.
