She'll be speaking elsewhere at some point, I expect. For the time being, she won't be on Twitter. I am certain that Elon Musk is part of the problem that led to that decision.

Update 31 Oct 2022: Strange New Worlds writer Akela Cooper's doing the same. There are others adding themselves to that list, I think. This will probably be discussed in later entries.

She's been pretty outspoken about her distaste for Trump and how much 1/6 bothered her, too, so I'm not surprised. [I'm pleased that most of the TNG cast seems pretty liberal so I don't have to feel bad about my oldest fandom. Wesley Crusher Said Trans Rights.]

Wil Wheaton is indeed standing with the sane, the smart and the kind. I continue to support that.

I'm not a fan of Wheaton (or *shudder* Wesley), but I recently saw a photo of him and his wife both wearing masks, so kudos to them for paying attention. :)

Apparently the founder of Twitter (Dorsey? Dempsey?) has a new Twitter-like social media project close to Beta launch called Bluesky.

It seems to be under debate as to whether Bluesky is in competition or cooperation with Twitter at the moment.

There's an old truism that 'adding programmers to a late project makes it later'.  With The Muskbrat having lost pretty much all of his core programmers and support people, he's going to have an extremely hard time keeping Twitter going and expanding it.  It'll be interesting to see if it is still running come the new year, much less expanding its capabilities reliably.
