I got the Cintiq hooked up to my iMac.

One more thing I need to do for this to work well: I need to find something - preferably not a book - to elevate the iMac on my desk so that I can fully view both screens at the office/studio workstation in the basement. The HP external monitor's going to go unused for a while, I think.

I miss wooden mandarin orange crates.

I can't think of anything that isn't just an empty carboard box - which is not stable. Do you have any wooden cutting boards that will stack?

I use an old monitor stand (the type with a flat platform for a CRT monitor) with a pivoted extending arm. Holds it about six inches above the desk and it can be moved sideways and back and forward. The base is bolted to the back of the desk. The down side is that junk tends to accumulate underneath. Like this

Sorry - should have said I use this for a laptop, not something like an iMac - it might be worth checking if the iMac has attachment points for a wall mount, if so there are probably similar stands available that bolt on to the iMac rather than having a platform.

You might want to look at building supplies too - say a couple of bricks supporting a board, or something like a cinder block / breeze block, might be cheaper than multiple cutting boards.

Besides the cutting board could you use several thick boards? They come in different widths at the hardware store or lumber yard.

Just we found solutions to use with lumber.
