Jerry Bails
Nov. 27th, 2006 09:47 pmSeveral of my friends and acquaintances met him over the years in person, corresponded with him off and on over the years. If he was at San Diego in 1993, I might've stood a chance of meeting him as well. If I did, then I wish that I could remember him with the same certainty as I do meeting Tony Isabella and Bob Ingersoll that year in that town. Memory is a trickier beast than I'd like it to be some days. If I've forgotten, then I owe apologies to at least one, perhaps more.
The one other thing I remember him for is this, and it speaks volumes of both him and one other I respect:
Roy Thomas thought enough of him to name what was then an Earth-2 city for him: Bails City, Utah. Go back and check the first year's worth of Infinity Inc. and you'll find it. That fight between Nuklon-as-was, Albert Rothstein, and the Koehaha-maddened-as-was Golden Age Atom, Al Pratt. One man trying to save his godfather and a city besides from the schemes of another.
