I like that take on CanCon. It should be entertaining first, and shouldn't have to be legislated. I also think the best CanCon is the subtle sort, you know Barenaked Ladies mentioning Kraft Dinner, the way Canadian culture is quietly used as the backdrop for Corner Gas, etc, etc. We're generally a quiet and unassuming nation, we don't have to be hit over the head with jingoistic "Ra-ra Go CANADA!" slogans all the time to be proud of where we live. We just are.

In an ideal world...I'd agree on the "legislated" part of the point. I definitely agree on the subtler approaches also being of use and actively being used, thankfully.

Yeah, it shouldn't have to be, but for now, I'm kind of okay with CanCon laws as they stand. We're the mouse next to the giant; it'd be far too easy for American culture to steamroll over ours without some legislation, I think.

Amen to that. How's the feeds I've been picking up of late been helping you keep up on the CanCon drama/comedy front?
