Now, Ottawans who happen to be seeing this picture right now, tell me true: don't you wish we were getting stuff like this from City Hall?

Yes.

But you know? Right now I'd settle for a working bus.

Absolute agreement there.

This, I think we're also agreed, should be one of the next projects to deal with after we finally get the transit mess squared away.

It's a good one.

Neither is going to happen anytime soon with Larry and his dysfunctional, territorial council.

We should seek out a good slate of alternative candidates, then. I still think Alex Munter a competent possible, even now, for example.

Alex Munter should have won that last election. I think there was something wrong with the process, but I can't put my finger on it.

Perhaps the court proceedings in the next couple of months might shed some light on that.

I hope so. There's something about Larry that strikes me as shady, creepy even.

Scumbuckets. It's no way to run a city.

I don't remember seeing this, but it may have been built since I left there in 2003.

I have this crazy vision of Don Adams (or someone else looking sinister) going in there ... and not coming out. :-)

I had not considered the possibilities up to now on that score. Something for [livejournal.com profile] mercuryeric or [livejournal.com profile] ruckawriter to amuse themselves with, should they send any of the characters in their care up that way, perhaps? :-D

Haven't actually tried one, but they've been open the past few months.

Heard any stories of/from satisfied - or dissatisfied - users? I don't need to know specific details, just a general sense of local opinions. The idea of this sort of infrastructure has struck me as a good one, given how some malls and restaurants in assorted cities have very specific ideas about their otherwise publicly accessible washrooms should be used.

They'll be isntalled in TO in the near future, but they're rolling them out pretty cautiously.

Understandable, I suppose. There are some who consider some of the uses cited in that uTOpia essay on such things to be dodgy at best. I'm not sure that that fact makes the idea any less essential to the smooth running of any given city in future.
