A friend of longstanding going back to - I think - Usenet times just noted an anniversary today: Elayne Riggs notes that this is the 18th anniversary of the start of her internet life's weblogging component.
Well done, Elayne! Hopefully, despite all manner of chaos these past few years and expected in the decades to come, we will both manage to keep living long and maybe even prospering a little (more than we have been up to now)!

Thanks!

Date: 2020-09-08 12:36 pm (UTC)It wouldn't surprise me if I went back a similar amount of time. I started on N54 with friends, it was never really stable and lots of us moved to LJ and many dropped out, and now on DW and cross-posting to LJ. Several friends later moved to FB, and I dabbled with it briefly but dropped it when it became filled with relatives that I really didn't want to hear from every day. Not to mention their horrible security practices and their selling of user information.
To quote Einsteins Theory of Relatives: You can't choose your relatives, thank god you can choose your friends.
