I'm still not done with iTunes yet as an all-media-in-one-piece-of-software thing.

iTunes for Windows is confirmed as remaining its gnarly monolithic self.

iTunes on macOS is splitting into three different apps: TV (which does what iTunes currently does for TV/movie content, including ripped DVDs and downloads), Podcasts (which does what iTunes does for Podcasts), and Music, which is basically iTunes minus the Podcasts and video bits.

Existing music libraries will transfer just fine (they way), the iTunes store is still there, and so on. They're just parting out bits of iTunes that never really made sense in a music player.
