From The Winter Solder? Where Fury and Romanova dumped SHIELD's stuff onto the Internet?

Did they have the time to work out what parameters they needed to "decide" what files to release and which to sit on? Because this little question-asking session over at MarvelMeta from five months earlier raised the thought in my mind. Also, having watched Citizenfour, it occurred to me that for all the craziness Edward Snowden brought down on himself, he still managed to make the time to find people like Greenwald and Poitras to help him start figuring out what had to go public ASAP and what had to be sat on indefinitely for the good of international security.

Given the situation with Project: Insight - a matter of hours before the three Helicarriers launched their mass-murder programming - Fury, Romanova, Hill, Rogers, Wilson and whoever else was helping behind the scenes may not have had that luxury of time and contemplation. So, the situation may well be as described by Gavia Baker-Whitelaw: "Thanks to Natasha's Snowden-esque leak, anyone with internet access can now read everything from SHIELD's black ops missions to the Helicarrier specs to Hawkeye's psych evaluations. Civilians now know precisely how much SHIELD has been hiding from them all these years..."

Thoughts?

(Yeah, this is the kind of thing that my brain turns back towards while I'm trying to clear out my sinuses over the weekend.)

I haven't seen SHIELD season two... does this get covered much?

Not really. Season two has been more of a dive into (a) rebuilding the infrastructure slowly, (b) getting the "SHIELD is a terrorist organization" declaration by Washington rescinded to whatever degree possible and (c) most importantly taking the fight back to HYDRA, building up to the discovery of the Inhumans in the process.

I tend to think some things weren't released -- the details of Project TAHITI, for instance. Maybe it was more like the Sony hack, and Tasha just released a bunch of high-level emails...plenty of damning evidence, but not much in the way of nitty-gritty tech details.

I'd have liked a lot more clarity if that had been the case.

Yeah, I'm just trying to hand-wave an explanation for why there aren't suddenly flying car dealerships on every corner, or gun shops full of Red Skull energy rifles. Of course, the comics have danced around this problem for decades -- world-changing discoveries like unstable molecules and Pym particles never seem to make it to the consumer level, or even to the police or military in most cases.

At this point for the MCU, we're still maybe less than a year into the post-TWS situation. I'd expect some lag time on this tech leakage due mainly to industrial infrastructure needing time to catch up with the reality of what's possible. The questions of whether or not to try to tap into that market, whether or not to suppress the existence of that market (and to what degree the entrenched industrial players will succeed or fail)...and I've noticed on some of the other Tumblr site linked into Hello Tailor and MarvelMeta that there is also a question of how much of the rest of human society has been infiltrated by HYDRA.

What problems to handle in what order?

That last bit was something that I was wondering all through season two. Through most of it, they had Talbot chasing SHIELD but how did the he know he could trust any of the men serving under him? How did the US Government know they could trust Talbot?

Through the infodump itself?

They'd certainly appreciate the sentiment, if it were heart-felt.
