Surveillance vs. Freedom: False Dichotomy?

Not entirely sure that I agree with the "yes" side of this one...but go have a listen for yourselves.

Not everybody, at least not with that blanket declaration. I want them listening to people for whom they have legitimate just cause to listen, under extremely restricted circumstances, and with severe penalties for misuse of such wiretapping/spying. If they can't get together enough evidence to get a judge to authorize a wire, then they haven't got any justification to listen to anything.
