...are Omega Flight.

Word from Newsarama's Toronto coverage on this one, people.

Discuss.

Me? My money was on [livejournal.com profile] rob_sawyer_blog or Paul Haggis to be tapped to write any Canadian Marvel Universe action in future.

I'm really not impressed. Two Alphans, analogues for Cap & Thor, and a West Coast Avenger who gave up the biz years ago. And I've noticed Oeming's endings tend to be anti-climatic.

I do wonder who is bearing the shield, tho. I can't see Steve or John Walker leaving the US. Maybe Clint Barton? :D

Considering where this Flight's based, I wonder if perhaps Oeming's found the perfect venue for tales with such endings. This is the land of Atwood, after all.

Counter-argument?

Did they devise their promotion after watching Chasing Amy? Is Mr Bendis also planning a superhero comic secretly based on two drug addicts he knows?

No idea, Si.

Rob Sawyer writing Alpha Flight? Do you WANT to turn me into a serial killer?

Not my plan, no.

But given Rob's media profile on both sides of the border, I thought he would have been a natural target for Quesada to recruit. Ditto Haggis and maybe even Paul Gross(as odd as I know that sounds).

Oh, man. The fact that Sawyer has a media profile fills me with horror. Paul Haggis would need to be a hardcore comics fan to make that big a step. And do people in the states still remember Gross?

On the other hand, I'd be down for a Robin Laws Alpha Flight book, especially after they fucked him on Iron Man.

The fact that I haven't dumped all the copies of his handiwork that I own -- including the autographed ones -- should admit of a certain pro-Sawyer bias on my part, Justin.

Not to worry, though. We're still on friendly terms. ;-)

Anyway...you've piqued my interest with that comment on Robin Laws. Exactly what (do you believe to have) happened that's made you reach that conclusion about his dealings with Marvel?

More importantly, what qualifies him for Alpha Flight revival duty?

As far as I can tell, the fact he was halfway through his first arc on Iron Man before they started easing him out (IIRC because of a shift in editorial) qualifies as a fucking.

And he's easily as good a writer as any of the ones you've mentioned, if less of an enthusiastic self promoter.

Hmmm. And I note that Mr. Laws is also LJ-affiliated.

And I did not know he was Toronto-based. Interesting...
