I read the news report from CBC's Kady O'Malley with more than a tad of shock and dismay. WTH???

That's too bad -- years ago we were in DC on Canada Day, and when we visited the Canadian embassy they immediately invited us in for the party (unfortunately my dad soon arrived and decided he wouldn't be able to find parking, so he took us off in a huff and we didn't get to go).

One of my sister's friends is a Canadian diplomat in DC; I wonder if she knows anything about this.
