It's not really a surprise at all. My recent experience with the mainstream media shows them to be lazy fucks, that would rather purloin a quote from another news agency rather than conduct their own interview.

Considering the cutbacks of recent years as well, the "laziness" may be partly due to simply being overwhelmed by being expected to do the proper work of ten by oneself alone.
