Cross-Border Noises of Interest
May. 9th, 2006 05:36 amOne of the columnists I follow regularly is Antonia Zerbisias of the Toronto Star.
This morning I read something fairly interesting posted to her blog on the Civitas meeting the other week.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

Date: 2006-05-09 05:01 pm (UTC)The behind closed doors shit is where all the real decisions get made. And they are usually behind closed doors because they know the public won't agree with it. So they have to figure out ways of getting it done anyways and that involves secrecy.
Fuck that is what I say.
I also think it's very shitty that "journalists" regularly participate in that stuff and keep it quiet.

If the Canadian scumbags are anything like the US scumbags, the real journalists will be completely shut out of such things in the future. To the detriment of the entire nation.

Date: 2006-05-09 09:13 pm (UTC)I doubt that the real journalists will let themselves be completely shut out. Mr. Harper's been fighting to institute White House-style press conference rules over the objections of the Parliamentary Press Gallery for some weeks now, and the Gallery are giving as good as they're getting. I recommend a dig through Antonia's archives for some of the stories about that dispute.
