A Taffy Lane With Real Taffy

If you live in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, you might already have heard of the other Taffy Lane in Orléans, north of the Queensway on the old Gloucester side of Orléans. That street's made a national reputation as the most-decorated street in Ottawa every Christmas over the last decade or two.
But there's a new Taffy Lane these days.
This one, owned and operated by one Tracey Wuest, is on the floor plans of Place d'Orléans Mall. You might be interested in the new edition, particularly if you're watching food culture.
While the plans were in the works for months beforehand, the store just opened for business about a month ago on the second floor, just across from the food court proper. Having taken over the premises of the former Japan Camera Centre location, it's steadily building its niche in the Place with those of the sweet tooth crowd. The selection starts with a choice selection of candied apples made by a very local supplier - hopefully someone will learn and share that particular secret sooner than later! - and moves onto a wide array of confections from other suppliers from across North America.
They don't neglect locally sourced sweets by any means, though. A quick but careful inspection of their wares will uncover sources scattered across four of the ten provinces: British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick, with a particular emphasis on Ontario and Quebec suppliers including Ottawa, Markham, and Marieville near Montréal.
So if you're passing through Orléans in either direction, do go have a look. Just be prepared to explain yourself to your dentist later on!
Pssst!
