Bliss and Melancholy
Dec. 25th, 2008 11:18 amI just finished listening to a selection of tunes from the original CD edition of Vince Guaraldi's soundtrack for A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Having said it to
thebitterguy a few minutes earlier, I'll say it again:
Bliss and melancholy, all wrapped up together in those tunes, some by Guaraldi himself, others by the giants on whose shoulders he stood.
Throw in last night's re-viewing of Due South's first and best attempt at a Christmas-themed episode, "Gift of the Wheelman", written by no less than Paul Haggis himself...and you get that same sense of joy and melancholy.
Seems a good mood for the day overall.
The weather outside is once again oddly warmer than I'd expect. The runoff has already begun in places around the neighbourhood, but the forecasts I've seen from Environment Canada tell me that it'll stop and begin again...but in fits and starts.
Still, there's enough snow on the ground and the rooftops now to make a decent go of it.
So...welcome to the Day.
